After a woman tried to flee her gun-wielding boyfriend Monday, he threatened to throw her into Interstate 40 traffic in North Little Rock and grabbed

cash from her bra, police said.

Joe Mitchell, 34, of North Little Rock faces charges of first-degree terroristic threatening, first-degree false imprisonment, aggravated robbery and third-degree assault, records show.

The 34-year-old woman said Mitchell, who was sitting in the front passenger seat of a blue GMC Yukon, pulled a black handgun from his waistband and told her that he would shoot her if she stopped driving while on I-40 near the Springhill Drive exit.

When the vehicle ran out of gas, the woman got out of the vehicle and ran, at which point Mitchell chased after her, according to a report from the Arkansas State Police.

He remained in the Pulaski County jail Tuesday.
