CABOT — Cade Christian Douglas Schulz, 18, of Cabot, passed away at his home Wednesday June 13, 2018. Beloved firstborn son. A son any parent dreams to have, a brother and friend all would have wanted. Cade lit up a room, his smile, sense of humor, he was so handsome but never conceited. He was meek and tender, brilliant, smart and witty. He was the REAL DEAL. We all were made rich by having him in our lives. We love you Cade and we ALL miss you so much. Cade is survived by his parents, Kai and Stacie Schulz, his siblings, Garrett, Ava and Lana, all of Cabot; his grandparen­ts, Don Williams of Bellville, Texas and Betty Jo Williams of Houston, Texas.

–––––❖––––– MALVERN — Mary Jo Avery, age 76, of Malvern, died Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Encore Health and Rehab. She was born in Malvern on June 15, 1941, to the late Millard Thomas Avery and Helen Augusta Jones.

Reared and receiving her early education in Malvern, she graduated Malvern High School with the class of 1959. She attended Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphi­a. For many years of her working life she was a secretary at Twin City Bank. Mary Jo was a member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed antiquing, going to flea markets, decorating, and spending time with her grandchild­ren.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Elizabeth Welch Jones (John) of Jacksonvil­le, Arkansas; her son, William Millard “Bill” Welch of Jacksonvil­le; two grandchild­ren, Gregory Allen Jones and Ashley Elizabeth Jones; and by numerous special friends and classmates.

Mary Jo was also preceded in death by an aunt, Hazel Collie, and the father of her children, Samuel Welch.

The family will receive friends at J.A. Funk Funeral Home on Monday morning, June 18, 2018, beginning at ten o’clock, followed by the funeral service at eleven o’clock. Brother Melvin Efird will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearer­s are the members of the MHS Class of 1959.

29, 1930. As a young child they moved to Morrilton, Arkansas, his

“Home Town”.

He made his trip home on

June 16, 2018, after a long and interestin­g journey through life.

He served twenty years in the U.S. Air Force, living in many great places, on retirement he and his family moved back to his “Home Town” to work twenty years with Southweste­rn Bell. Being an active member of the Church of the Nazarene where he served twenty five years on the Church Board, as well as Treasurer for many years, and volunteer “Handyman”. He also proudly served many years with the Gideon’s as treasurer, and enjoyed being a prior year State of Arkansas King of TOPS Internatio­nal. He and his wife Ann served as Devil Dog Band parents, also Volunteers at T.C. Vaughn Senior Center, Meals on Wheels was one of their special

loves. He loved life and enjoyed many things with cruising being at the top of the list.

He was preceded in death by his birth parents, adoptive parents, Opal and Hervey Ethridge, sister, Eloise Jones and brother in law, Tommy Ethridge.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ann Ethridge Gray, son, Louis E. Gray (Rita), daughters, Deborah Padgett (Austin), Beverly Gray (Perry), son, Stephen Gray (Veronica), brothers, Charles B. Gray and Robert Gray, adopted by love, Mike and Rita Howell, nine grandchild­ren, nine great-grandchild­ren, and five great-great-grandchild­ren.

Board of Directors, Cross County Citizen of the Year 2016, Knights of Columbus, Friends of Animals member, Paul Harris Fellow, and a member of the Republican National Committee. Mr. Hess married Barbara Ann Ladd in 1970. She survives him along with three daughters Candy Naff “Gregg Powers” of Arlington, Tenn., Jan Hess “Butch Peeler” of Wynne and Lynn Baum “Mike” of Guntown, Miss.; stepson Butch Kelley of Wynne and a stepdaught­er Katrina Newkirk “Bill” of Liberty, Texas; five sisters Clara Hylle of Wynne, Margaret Boeckmann of Wynne, Betty Buergler of Talbott, Tenn., Dorothy Dettlinger “Ronnie” of Illinois and Ruth Wilson Miller “Lowell” of Morristown, Tenn.; two brothers Paul Hess and Bobby Hess “Carol” both of Wynne; eight grandchild­ren William Harry Newkirk III “Angie”, Ashley Law “Josh”, Hunter Ladd Newkirk “Paula”, Mason Lane Lace, Taylor Musgrove “Andrew”, Murray Lynn Lace, Cody Parker Kelley, and James Albert Kelley; seven great-grandchild­ren Shane Myles Drake, Reed Allen Drake, Cayde Elisabeth Newkirk, Mason Ladd Newkirk, Colsyn Rae Newkirk, Nathaniel James Law and Abigail Rose Law.
