At least three people have been killed in road crashes since Friday, according to Arkansas State Police.

A Bismarck man was killed and two others were injured Tuesday evening in a one-vehicle wreck on Thornton Ferry Road, according to a crash report.

Kevin Burks, 28, of Bismarck, the driver of a 1995 Chevrolet pickup, was northbound on Thornton Ferry Road about 6 p.m. when he lost control on a curve and the pickup landed upside down in the ditch, the report said.

Burks was killed in the crash, and two passengers, Ashley Murray, 23, of Arkadelphia and Kara Armstrong, 26, of Lepanto, were injured, according to the report.

The report said the injured were taken to CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs.

On Monday, a 75-yearold man from Harrison died when the truck he was driving crashed off a highway, authorities said.

Harlan Sharp was driving a 2001 Freightliner west on U.S. 62 near George’s Creek in Marion County when the truck crossed the centerline, went off the highway and hit an embankment, according to a state police report. It hap- pened about 5:40 p.m.

Sharp was killed. No one else was listed as being hurt.

The report didn’t indicate what may have caused the truck to leave the highway.

Authorities said a pedestrian was struck and killed Friday by a tractor-trailer while he was trying to cross a street.

The Jonesboro man was walking south on Drake Street about 9:30 p.m. when he tried to cross Johnson Avenue, according to a crash report. He was struck in the intersection by a 2006 Freightliner that was traveling east on Johnson Avenue, the report said.

Cpl. David McDaniel, a spokesman for the Jonesboro Police Department, said authorities hadn’t publicly named the man because they had not reached his family yet.

The weather was clear and roads were dry at the time of all three crashes, state police reported.
