Man sentenced in drug case

A Royal man arrested in 2016 was sentenced to nine years and two months in federal prison Thursday in U.S. District Court in Hot Springs.

Issac Johnson, 25, was indicted in October 2016 on a felony count of conspiracy to distribute methamphet­amine and pleaded guilty in November 2017. His prison sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release.

According to court records, in February 2016, investigat­ors with the Arkansas State Police and Hot Springs police arranged and conducted a controlled delivery of methamphet­amine between an undercover officer and Johnson in Garland County.

After the controlled delivery, Johnson was taken into custody. During a search of his person, officers located a .380-caliber pistol.

On Wednesday, Leslie Fr- yar, 42, of Amity was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Hot Springs to seven years and three months in federal prison.

Fryar was indicted by a federal grand jury in April 2017 on one felony count of intent to distribute methamphet­amine and pleaded guilty to the charge in November. She must complete three years of supervised release after her prison sentence.

In March 2017, state police conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Fryar, who consented to a search of her vehicle. Officers found a plastic bag containing methamphet­amine and she was taken into custody.
