Problem’s the culture To enforce U.S. laws

-

Thank you, Paul Greenberg, for speaking the truth in a well-written column on the decline of family values and gun violence. That column needs to be broadcast and reported all across America. People don’t want to wake up and admit to the realization that guns cannot kill without help from people.

I do agree military guns do not need to be in the hands of civilian personnel. Especially automatic rifles. In my day and time we didn’t shoot rabbits and squirrels with AR-15s.

I believe we can place the blame for our present culture on the major TV networks and their reporting the news. A lot of the blame for our present culture in the decline of family values, gun violence and vulgarity can be placed on TV shows, movies, music, PCs, iPads, video games and smartphones. I do not think the NRA has any connection to them.

Now, more than ever, family values need to be restored.

New laws cannot change our situation. We don’t enforce the ones we have. The police community’s hands are tied as well as assaulted by the public for trying.

I believe it is only by God’s intervention and his grace that our present-day culture is going to change. It starts with you and me and millions of others taking a stand.

Enjoy reading my Democrat-Gazette each morning delivered by a great carrier. RALPH DAVIS Bryant

Getting worn out by people saying Christians cannot really be Christians if they believe the immigration laws of our country should be obeyed. Remember Jesus said, “Render unto Caesar,” which to me means there is a separate duty as a citizen, even for Christians. If a Christian thinks a law is wrong, then he or she should work to get it changed; otherwise, you’re just another lawbreaker.

I really believe I can support being a sovereign country with secure borders and endorse enforcement of the immigration laws while being a Christian. And remember, you could be helping these people in their home countries by donating your time, money or both to various international organizations instead of promoting the idea that it is the duty of U.S. taxpayers to support anyone able to get here.
