Woman jailed after husband, 69, hurt

Argument escalated, they tell police

- STEVEN MROSS THE SENTINEL-RECORD

HOT SPRINGS — A Hot Springs Village woman was arrested on a felony battery charge Thursday after being accused of injuring her 69-year-old husband during an altercation at their home.

Hasna Gaborno Lacorte, 24, of 86 Ponteverda Drive was taken into custody at her residence shortly after 6:30 p.m. and charged with second-degree domestic battery.

According to the probable cause affidavit, around 5:45 p.m., Hot Springs Village police were sent to the couple’s residence regarding a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, they spoke with Lacorte’s husband, who told them the disturbance had become physical.

He told police he and his wife had been involved in an argument when she began taking his clothes from the bedroom and placing them in the living room. He said she grabbed his left wrist and told him to pack his clothes and leave, the affidavit said.

He told police she then kicked him in the right knee, so he pushed her onto the sofa. At that point, she struck him in the groin area with her knee, according to the affidavit. Officers noted the man had a mark on his wrist that appeared to be from a fingernail but didn’t have any other visible injuries.

Lacorte told police she grabbed her husband’s wrist after he raised his hand as if to slap her, the affidavit said. She admitted kicking him in the knee but denied striking him in the groin, according to the affidavit.

Her husband confirmed that he raised a hand as if he was going to strike her and that it was possible the injury on his wrist occurred at that time, according to the affidavit. Both Lacorte and her husband told police he never struck her.

The affidavit notes that because Lacorte caused physical injury to her husband and knew he was over 60 years old, she was taken into custody on a felony charge of battery.
