4th of July Celebratio­n in the Bay FAIRFIELD BAY — The Fourth of July celebratio­n in the Bay will start at 6 p.m. Tuesday with a free performanc­e by the Cherokee National Youth Choir in the Indian Rock Cave at the Fairfield Bay Heritage Center. The choir will perform a program, One Nation Under God, of patriotic and gospel music sung in the Cherokee language. Attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair. July Fourth events on Wednesday will include a parade in the morning, live history demonstrat­ions at the Fairfield Bay Heritage Center in the afternoon and fireworks on the water after dark.

Lake Charles State Park July Fourth Activities POWHATAN — Lake Charles State Park will offer a variety

of activities for families on July Fourth. A 1.5-mile Morning Birding Hike will take place from 9:30-10:30 a.m., beginning at the White Oak trailhead near the campsites. Nature Center Exploratio­n will be from 1-3 p.m. Animals may include turtles, frogs, snakes and more. The Firefly Frenzy from 11:45 p.m. will offer a chance to learn more about these nighttime insects. A Fire Safety session from 2-2:45 p.m. will teach attendees how to stay safe around fire. Art in the Park, from 3:15-4:15 p.m. at the Nature Center, will offer arts and crafts. This kid-focused program will provide supplies, and weather permitting, will be outside. For more informatio­n, call the park at (870)878-6595. Tom Sawyer Days FAIRFIELD BAY — Tom Sawyer Days at the Fairfield Bay Heritage Center will follow the July 4th parade. Volunteers will tell pioneer stories, demonstrat­e spinning wheels, play harmonica and create God’s Eye crafts for children. There will be free lemonade and maybe a pie contest. Spring River Gem and Mineral Club Meeting CHEROKEE VILLAGE — The Spring River Gem and Mineral Club will meet at 10 a.m. at the Omaha Center. Brooks Blevins, the Noel Boyd Professor of Ozarks Studies at Missouri State University in Springfiel­d, will present the program, Minerals and Mining in the Old Ozarks. Lake Charles State Park Activities POWHATAN — Activities at Lake Charles State Park on Friday will include a .75-mile Morning Nature Hike from 9:30-10:30 a.m., beginning at the Cedar Trailhead in the day-use area; Nature Center Exploratio­n from 1-3 p.m.; Fish Focus from 1-1:45 p.m. to learn more about fishing ethics and their importance; and Arkansas Amphibians from 2-2:45 p.m. to observe amphibians in the Nature Center and learn what makes them unique. T Tauri Movie Camp New Workshops BATESVILLE — The T Tauri Movie Camp, for ages 8 to 18, will offer two new workshops this year. Acting on Camera, July 16-17, a workshop by director/actor Warren McCullough, will help transition young theater actors and introduce novice actors to the unique challenges of acting in front of a camera.
