Lake Charles State Park Activities POWHATAN — Lake Charles State Park will offer the following activities: a 1.5-mile Morning Birding Hike from 9-10 a.m. — meet at the White Oak trailhead near the campsites; Nature Center Exploratio­n from 1-3 p.m. — animals may include turtles, frogs, snakes and more; Nature’s Clean-Up Crew from 1-1:45 p.m. to learn how fungi, vultures and worms have an important role in the environmen­t; Summer Safety from 2-2:45 p.m. to learn about simple steps to take to get the most fun out of your summer; and a .75-mile Nature Hike from 3:30-4:30 p.m. starting at the Cedar Trailhead in the day-use area. Izard County Historical Society Meeting BROCKWELL — The Izard County Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. at the Izard County Senior Center, about 1 mile south of Brockwell on Arkansas 9. The guest speaker will be David Carpenter, a land surveyor and chair of the Ozarka College Applied Science and Technology Department in Melbourne. Nature Center Exploratio­n will be from

1-3 p.m., and Birds of Lake Charles will be offered from 1-1:45 p.m. Animal Tracks will meet from 2-2:45 p.m. at the nature center to discuss some of the tracks seen most often in the park and the animals they belong to. A Kayak Tour will take place from 3:15-4:45 p.m., beginning at the swim beach. Bring plenty of water and sun protection. Bad Boy Splash and Dash BATESVILLE — The seventh annual Bad Boy Splash and Dash will take place at the new Batesville Community and Aquatics Center. Kids ages 5-18 can swim, run and splash. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Ozark Foothills Literacy Project. Art Exhibit

ASH FLAT — Award-winning artist Bobbie Hanson is displaying several of her original paintings at the Ash Flat Library through July. Hanson moved to Arkansas in 2002 and began painting in watercolor. She has branched out into other media but said watercolor is still her favorite. She is a member of the Spring River Art Guild in Hardy, the Ozark Regional Arts Council and the Fulton County Arts Council.

Horseshoe Bend Farmers Market

Shepherd Center’s Summer Activities
