BRIAN LEONARD AUSTIN BISGOOD, age 89, of Mabelvale, born on February 14,

1929 in London, England, died on July 2, 2018 in Little Rock.

He was predecease­d by his parents,

Frank and Irine Bisgood and one brother,

John Bisgood.

Brian leaves behind his wife, Betty Hodson-Bisgood; son, Patrick Sammon (Lisa); daughter Shelbie (Linc Gurley); one granddaugh­ter; TaraLisa Galongo (Curtis Cunningham); four great-grandchild­ren, and four nieces.

Brian proudly served six years in the British Army. He was particular­ly honored to serve a season on the Queen Mother’s Honor Guard. He worked as a commercial kitchen designer for nearly fifty years in the greater Little Rock area and beyond.

As was his wish, there will be no public ceremony. Anyone wishing to honor Brian is asked to donate to a favorite charity benefiting children or animals.

–––––❖––––– WILSON “BILL” CAVANO, made his final fly-by on July 9, 2018. He was born on September 18,

1936 in Philadelph­ia, Pennsylvan­ia.

Bill served his country first in 1955 in the

United States

Marine Corps.

In 1957 he volunteere­d for the

United States Air Force where he continued to serve for 23 years until he retired as a Master Sergeant in 1978. Upon retirement Bill began his career as a Maintenanc­e Electricia­n.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Florence Cavano; brothers Herbert (Monica) and Kenneth (Judith) and a son-in-law Jeffery Westenhave­r. Bill is survived by his loving wife Sandra M. Cavano; three children, Jeri Westenhave­r, Clay Cavano (Cindy) and Dawn Stanley (Scott); one grandson, four granddaugh­ters, three great-granddaugh­ters, two great-grandsons; one brother John E. Cavano (Yoko) and many extended nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 4 p.m. at A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonvil­le, Arkansas Jacksonvil­le, Arkansas. –––––❖––––– ELTON ELI COLE, 80, of Mabelvale, went home to be with the Lord on July 8, 2018. He was born on April 24, 1938 in Little Rock to the late R.L. and Inez Treadway Cole. Elton was an Assembly of God Minister, retiring after 33 years at Ironton Assembly of God.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Cole, one brother and one sister. Elton is survived by his sons, Phillip (Ginger) Cole of Little Rock, Timothy (Julie) Cole of Mabelvale, one brother, three sisters, grandchild­ren, Terry Cole, Rhonda Warren, Seth Lybrand and Karmen Lybrand, great-grandchild­ren, Cecelia, Cooper and Elijah.

Pallbearer­s will be Tony Harris, Aaron Cole, Jerry Parnell, Martin Couch, Kevin Couch and Lynn Peeler. Honorary Pallbearer­s will be Keith Archer and Cavin Peeler.

Chapel services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ashby Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Lawson, Bro. Don Taylor and Bro. Glen Cole officiatin­g. Burial will follow at Mt. Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Ashbys.

–––––❖––––– SUANNA JEANETTE FLAKE DAVIS, age 80, of Little Rock, Arkansas died Thursday, July

5, 2018 at CHI

St. Vincent. Suanna was born in Conway, Arkansas on January 22, 1938, the daughter of Anthony William and Dimple

Evans Flake. She received Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from the University of Arkansas. Her musical talent afforded her many opportunit­ies, including operatic appearance­s in the Kansas City Lyric Opera and the Arkansas State Opera, as well as performanc­es at the Kansas City Starlight Theatre and the Joplin, Missouri Symphony, the Arkansas Symphony and the Kansas City Civic Orchestra. She sang soprano in the choir at First Presbyteri­an Church of Little Rock, where she was a longtime member. Suanna taught music in the Little Rock and Pulaski County School districts for many years and served on the faculty of the University of Central Arkansas.

Suanna is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Franklin “Vern” Davis; daughter, Jennifer Burnau of Pittsburgh; stepdaught­er, Lisa Hill of Arkadelphi­a; cousin and “little sister” Margaret Alice Shook and her daughter, Ann Marie Mohrmann of Little Rock; and cherished friend, Barbara Ramoly of Little Rock.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at First Presbyteri­an Church of Little Rock with Reverend Stephen Moody officiatin­g. 2018. John never met a stranger.

He greeted everyone with a booming voice and huge smile.

He loved BIG!

No matter what it was, he loved with his whole heart and then some. He would do anything for you. John graduated from Hall High and UALR. He was employed by the Asher Group until the time of his death.

–––––❖––––– HERCHEL GARDNER of Little Rock died July 8, 2018. He was first and foremost a family person who married Rubye Elizabeth

Wright in 1948.

Rubye helped him so much throughout his career and he affectiona­tely referred to her as the wind beneath his wings, even during retirement until her death on June 5, 2013.

They have three children, Carrye Greene of Little Rock, Lynn Gardner of Fayettevil­le and Van Gardner and his wife Diane of Little Rock. He has two grandchild­ren, Jack and Taylor and seven brothers and sisters. He felt God had blessed him in so many ways; being born into a Christian family of eight children by Marshall and Dona Gardner in Delight, Arkansas. After World War II meeting and later marrying Rubye and being blessed with children who have those values so important to family love and unity.

Herkie or Pops, as he was affectiona­tely called, served two years in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was employed by Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield in 1950 where he served until his retirement as Chief Operating Officer in 1989. When he started to work for ABCBS there were 10 employees at 1210 Main Street.

There were approximat­ely 1,500 employees when he retired. He was the lead person in the constructi­on of their headquarte­rs buildings between 6th and 7th Street on Gaines. He served the companies in both internal and external operations. He was responsibl­e for landing the Medicare contract for Arkansas in 1965 and many of the people hired for that program are still with the company today in responsibl­e positions. Mr. Gardner was the principal organizer of USAble Life about 10 years prior to his retirement from BCBS and was most proud of that company serving as Chairman of Board until his retirement. He was also active in organizing other USAble Corporatio­n subsidiari­es. He always was very proud of his associates in all of the Blue Cross Blue Shield enterprise­s.

He was active in the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce, BBB, President of the Downtown Kiwanis Club and Treasurer and Board Member of Pleasant Valley Country Club and later Chenal Country Club. He was on the executive board of the Boy Scouts and Pulaski County Unit of the American Cancer Society. He was a member of Pulaski Heights, Highland Valley and Asbury United Methodist Church where he served on the Board, numerous committees and as a teacher in Sunday School. He was a supporter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes receiving their coveted limited edition influence picture, which remains prominentl­y displayed in his home.

Herchel served hundreds of thousands of Americans throughout his profession­al career and had the opportunit­y through his church and other avenues to have a positive impact on his fellow employees, customers and others he came into contact with.

Graveside services are Thursday, July 12th at 10 a.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Alexander, Arkansas. –––––❖––––– THOMAS WOODROW “WOODY” PARKER passed away peacefully on the morning of

July 6, 2018 in Georgetown,

Texas. Woody was born in Plumervill­e,

Ark., on August,

12, 1919, the second youngest of sixteen children of Lennie and Robert Parker.

He is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and nine sisters and former wife, Nell Parker. He is survived by a daughter, Jan Keith (Bill) of Little Rock, Ark., and son, Paul Parker (Mary Kay) of Georgetown, Texas. Also five grandchild­ren, Clay Keith, Bryan Keith, Niya Keith, Meredith Sauter and Laura Parker and seven great-grandchild­ren.

He graduated from Plumervill­e High School in 1938. Woody enlisted in the military in January 1942, where he served in the Papuan and New Guinea Campaigns, earning two Bronze Stars. He was honorably discharged from the Army in December 1944, and married Ruby Nell Brown while attending the University of Arkansas. After graduating from the University in 1950 with a degree in Business Administra­tion they moved to Little Rock where he held several jobs before starting his own real estate company, Woody Parker Realty. He specialize­d in neighborho­od developmen­t and real estate appraisals even into his 80’s.

Woody was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock for over 60 years where he taught Sunday school to teenage boys and spent many a day fishing with Dr. Vaught. On October 20, 2012, Woody and Paul flew to Washington, D.C. participat­ing in the Honor Flight Program. During his trip he shared for the first time with Paul his harrowing experience­s from the war. For 30 minutes captured on video, he recounted the experience­s that demonstrat­ed the bravery of these young men and the horrors they witnessed. His truly is the greatest generation. We are proud to know he fought bravely for the freedoms we share today.

For most of the past 40 years Woody lived in his cabin on Parker Lake where he was surrounded by friends and was known to help total strangers. To be near his son Paul, Woody moved to Autumn Leaves Memory Care Center in Georgetown, Texas. He was very happy there and loved by all. We are eternally grateful to the staff at Autumn Leaves for making his last 18 months some of his happiest.

A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, Wednesday, July 11th at 2 p.m. He will be buried in Plumervill­e with his family. –––––❖––––– ROYCE DALE WIGLEY, 77, of Little Rock, went home to be with the Lord on July 6, 2018 with his family at his side. Born in Ashley County, Arkansas to Ashley and Bernice White Wigley, he was an insurance underwrite­r and a member of First Baptist Church in Little Rock. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Vivian Wigley, daughter, Jennifer Wigley, and son, Bryan Wigley, all of Little Rock; sisters, Mary Norris of Sheridan and Cheryl Armbruster of Atlanta, Georgia; and brother, Sam Wigley of Liberty Hill, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Carolyn Venable, Marjorie Paschall and Dorothy Nell Gill Malcolm.

Graveside services will be today, Tuesday, July 10 at 11 a.m. at Brown Cemetery in Pine Bluff, officiated by Rev. Robert Norris.
