OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Robert Richard Wessels, 89, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully on

July 8, 2018.

Robert was born to Oscar and Helen Wessels in Stuttgart, Arkansas on

August 22, 1928.

For four years of Robert’s life he worked as a Railroad signalman; for 33 years Robert worked in Paper Mill Operations and did tax preparatio­n for several years. He held multiple Officer positions in the United Paper Workers Internatio­nal Union. Robert enjoyed fishing and family genealogy research.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Seeger, husband Steve, of Round Rock, Texas, daughter, Karen Kapka, husband Mike, of Warr Acres, Okla., and stepson, John Eddie Flemmons, and wife, Linda, of McGehee, Ark.; brother Charles Wessels, wife Wanda, of Ruston, La., brother Lloyd Wessels, of White Hall, Ark., sister Ruby Poteet, husband Jerry, of Pine Bluff, Ark., brother, Bill Wessels, wife Cheryl, of Casa Grande, Ariz. Robert is also survived by his six grandchild­ren, Eddie Flemmons Jr., Christy Peacock, Brad Flemmons, Ricky Flemmons, Eric Seeger, Sam Kapka, and eight great-grandchild­ren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nelle Wessels.

Memorial contributi­ons can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. Services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Edmond.
