Ratha Yatra, which begins today in India, is a festival honoring the Hindu deity Jagannatha, a form of Krishna, and involves a procession of three huge chariots or carts that look like temples, called raths, at Puri in India. This is a popular festival because during this time all castes are considered equal, and everyone must eat the food prepared by lower-caste men at the shrine at Puri.
