Good Roads Foundation gets director
The Arkansas Good Roads Foundation, a nonprofit organization that advocates for increased spending on highway construction, has a new executive director.
Joe Quinn, a former television news anchor and political reporter who served in senior roles under former Gov. Mike Huckabee and for Walmart Inc., succeeds Craig Douglass. Quinn, 62, of Rogers also runs his own firm, Quinn & Associates Consulting LLC.
Quinn joins the foundation as the Arkansas Highway Commission works to develop a source of long-term funding for road construction and maintenance. Revenue from fuel taxes hasn’t kept pace with state highway needs, and two major programs, the $1.8 billion Connecting Arkansas Program and $1.2 billion Interstate Rehabilitation Program, will be completed within the next five years.
“We are very pleased Joe is joining our ongoing effort to help all Arkansans better understand how good roads play a major role in the quality of life in our state,” said D.B. Hill, vice president of the foundation’s executive board.
The Arkansas Department of Transportation contributes $30,000 annually to the foundation.
