LEAD HILL (Boone County), 1913 — The remote village was settled not long after the Civil War and prospered for the next few decades mining and smelting lead near the White River. The town supported stores, a school and several churches. The town site would be submerged beneath the rising waters of Bull Shoal Lake in the 1950s. A new Lead Hill community was formed on high ground and in the last census counted about 300 people.
