TODAY Palestine Baptist Church Homecoming

PEARSON — Palestine Baptist Church, 389 Edgemont Road (Arkansas 16) in the Pearson community, will celebrate 157 years of existence today with a homecoming. Brother Matthew Corkran will preach at 11 a.m., followed by a potluck lunch in the Fellowship Hall. Linda Morgan, a Southern gospel vocalist, will perform after lunch. All are asked to bring a dish to share.

MONDAY Splash-Pad Opening

CONWAY — Conway’s first splash pad will open at 9:30 a.m. in Laurel Park. The park is south of Conway High School on Prince Street, but the splash pad is on the Robinson Avenue side of the playground. The 5,500square-foot splash pad features a toddler bay, a family bay and an activity bay. The splash pad is free to the public and will be open from 9 a.m. to dark daily.

Adult Fall Softball League Divisional Meeting

RUSSELLVIL­LE — The Russellvil­le Recreation and Parks Department will have a divisional meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Hughes Community Center for teams competing in the fall softball league. Audubon Club Meeting

CONWAY — The Arkansas River Valley Audubon Society will meet at 7 p.m. in Room 010, in the basement’s north hall, of the Donald W. Reynolds Center for

RUSSELLVIL­LE — The River Valley Arts Center will offer another art/drawing/painting class for kids this week. Miranda Townsend will teach a class from 2-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. TUESDAY Understand­ing Alzheimer’s and Dementia

CONWAY — The Alzheimer’s Associatio­n will present Understand­ing Alzheimer’s and Dementia at 5:30 p.m. at the Faulkner County Library. This educationa­l program addresses the impact of Alzheimer’s, the disease stages and risk factors, the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia, current research and treatment, and resources for patients, caregivers and families. Art Gallery 25th Anniversar­y Celebratio­n

FAIRFIELD BAY — The public is invited to the 25th Silver Anniversar­y Celebratio­n of the North Central Arkansas Art Gallery in the Fairfield Bay Conference Center from 6-8 p.m. The gallery has been the venue for the display of artwork by area residents for a quarter of a century. QuickBooks Desktop Workshop

RUSSELLVIL­LE — The Arkansas Tech Small Business and Technology Developmen­t Center will present QuickBooks Desktop from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Arkansas Tech University. This interactiv­e workshop is designed for business owners and their employees who have little or no experience using QuickBooks desktop software (Pro, Premier and Enterprise). Topics include company setup, transactio­ns, working with lists, reconcilin­g accounts, invoices, payments, bills, inventory, reports and more. The cost to attend is $130 and includes a take-home workbook and the use of a computer. FAIRFIELD BAY — William Worden, flute maker and musician, will bring his handmade instrument­s and stories to the Fairfield Bay Community Education Center from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday and Aug. 1. Worden is an Artist on Tour and an Artist in Education with the Arkansas Arts Council. The workshops are free, and young children are encouraged to participat­e. THURSDAY AND FRIDAY 3C’s Train-the-Trainer Program

CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas will offer the 3C’s Train-the-Trainer Program from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at UCA’s BrewerHege­man Conference Center, 201 Donaghey Ave. Based on the book Civility, Compassion and Courage in Schools Today: Strategies for Implementi­ng in K-12 Classrooms, this course will focus on becoming civility-competent and compassion­ate, as well as provide an in-depth reflection on how one’s personalit­y impacts authentic program delivery. GREENBRIER — Absolute Care Management Corp.’s Guys

and Dolls, a therapy program for seniors with Alzheimer’s disease, will have an event at 2 p.m. at Greenbrier Health and Rehab. Donations are needed of new or gently used baby dolls, clothes and blankets, small quilted blankets, fidget items and sewing items. Crafters are needed to help make fidget blankets. SATURDAY Quitman High School Reunion

QUITMAN — The annual Quitman High School Reunion for all graduates and former students who attended Quitman schools will take place from 2-5 p.m. at the Quitman Bulldog Complex on the east side of the school campus. The theme is All Things ’60s. Attendees are encouraged to bring memorabili­a relating to their 1960s Quitman school experience. Light refreshmen­ts will be served. World Championsh­ip Cardboard Boat Races

RUSSELLVIL­LE — The Arkansas Tech University Office of Admissions has announced the campus-tours schedule for prospectiv­e students and their families during the fall 2018 semester. Tours of the ATU campus in Russellvil­le will be offered at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, and group tours will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, as well as at 2 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Fairfield Bay Farmers Market

FAIRFIELD BAY — The Fairfield Bay Farmers Market is open from 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays at the Village Mall Gazebo. The market features certified naturally grown produce from the Gathering Place at Meadow Creek. All vendors are welcome to bring bumper-crop vegetables to sell. No preregistr­ation is required.
