LAURA PATRICIA “PATSY” HIETT, 71, of Maumelle, Arkansas, passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at her home on

July 26th, 2018.

She was born

January 30, 1947 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to the late Cliff and

Evelyn Housley

Spruell.

Patsy loved being on or near the water, whether boating on the lake, or feeling the soft white sands of Destin, Florida between her toes. She so enjoyed and always looked forward to yearly trips to the beach with her closest girlfriends. She also loved good food, especially a good fish fry put on by her boys Joe and Clay.

Her grandchildren Cameron Coleman, Laura Grace Hiett, Warren Hiett and Ava Hiett were the absolute lights of her life. She gave so much of herself and her heart to them and she had a very true close bond with each of them. Patsy was also devoted completely to her sons, Joe (Gretchen) Hiett and Clay Hiett. She felt so blessed and proud to call them her boys. Patsy always loved the canine companions she kept and loved so dearly, especially Badger, a pup she rescued and grew a beautiful closeness with. Badger stayed by her side during her final hours, giving her incredible comfort. Counted among her closest friends were her brother Mike Spruell and his wife Jeannie, her former husband Dennis Hiett, Gaye Spruell, Rachel Gwin, Chris Myers, Georgia Clanton, Charlotte Suess, and Carolyn Lotterhos.

During the last eighteen months of Patsy’s life, she battled cancer with an incredibly strong will all while keeping a lighthearted spirit. She was so very blessed to have found and hired a few caregivers who gave their entire hearts and lives over to keep her happy, healthy and comfortable. She grew very loving relationships with each of them and they were considered family. These incredible women are Takevia, Natasha, Dalith, Sholanda and Jasmine. They enriched Patsy’s final year of life in so many ways and her gratitude toward them was immeasurable.

A visitation at Gross Funeral Home will take place on Wednesday, August 1st at 10am with a funeral service beginning at 11am. Burial to follow at Greenwood.
