The future is at stake

-

The current occupant of the Oval Office recently tweeted that the Russians were likely to interfere in the 2018 elections, but on behalf of the Democrats. This while still denying the Russians meddled in the 2016 election, making his own rise to president possible.

I wonder about his motivation behind this tweet. Is he laying the groundwork for challenging any seats gained by the Democrats, giving rise to more upheaval in our country? Is he saying that hardworking Democratic candidates cannot win without Russian hacking? Well, Mr. Trump, I disagree.

I am a volunteer on the Hayden Shamel campaign for U.S. Congress in the 4th District. Hayden has boots on the ground, actually visiting the 33 counties in the 4th District. Shaking people’s hands, making eye contact and listening to their concerns and answering their questions. She has been doing this ever since entering the race for this office. Hayden is earning people’s support through her own efforts and not through the deceptive practices of some Russia-based hackers.

Likely there will be more tweets of this nature in the weeks ahead, and I

hope that people not only see behind the motives but get out and vote on Nov. 6. Your votes are one way to get your message out to Washington. It is not only your tomorrow, but the future of your children and grandchildren at stake. SHARON DUMAS Mount Ida
