ATU College of Education announces interim appointments
RUSSELLVILLE — Linda Bean, dean of the
Arkansas Tech University College of Education, has announced three interim leadership appointments.
Tim Carter is serving as interim associate dean for the ATU College of Education, Shellie Hanna is filling the role of interim head for the ATU Department of Curriculum and Instruction, and John Freeman is the interim head of the ATU Center for Leadership and Learning.
Bean, an Arkansas Tech alumna and member of the ATU faculty since 2000, previously served in the role of associate dean for the ATU College of Education. She was elevated to dean of the college as of July 1.
Carter, professor of curriculum and instruction, holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from Arkansas Tech. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Georgia in 1998 and joined the ATU faculty a year later. He was serving as department head for curriculum and instruction at the time of his appointment as interim associate dean.
Hanna also holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from ATU. She earned a Doctor of Education degree at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A member of the Tech faculty since 2004, Hanna holds the rank of associate professor of curriculum and instruction.
Freeman joined the ATU faculty in 2015 and was integral in implementing the first doctoral degree
Freeman program in the university’s history. He holds five degrees from Louisiana State University: two bachelor’s degrees, two master’s degrees and a Doctor of Philosophy degree. He is professor of educational leadership at ATU.
