Restless Heart to headline Get Down Downtown Festival
SEARCY — Festival organizer Main Street Searcy, stage sponsor First Security Bank and music sponsor White River Flooring will present Nashville recording band Restless Heart as the Saturdaynight headline act for Get Down Downtown on Sept. 29.
Main Street Searcy Executive Director Amy Burton said committee members and event volunteers are making preparations to welcome more than 25,000 visitors into the downtown area for the 11th annual event, which has become known for featuring live music, performances, merchandise vendors and concessions.
“Over the past decade, Get Down Downtown has welcomed nationally known recording artists, along with local musicians. We have such a wide range of festival attendees every year, so we strive to bring a diverse mix of music genres so there truly is something for everyone during the event,” Burton said.
The two-day festival will kick off at 6 p.m. Sept. 28. Activities will then resume at 10 a.m. Sept. 29, with music all day and vendor activities on the downtown streets. The Unity Health Kid Zone will be in Spring Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., when activities such as children’s stage performances, inflatables, carnival games, rides and face-painting will be offered for kids of all ages.
The evening of Sept. 29 will be a continuation of downtown activities, including performances on the First Security Bank Stage from Arkansas’ own Anna Brinker and Nashville’s newest sensations Melanie Meriney and Tony-Ray Thompson, who will lead into Restless Heart’s 8 p.m. show.
