BARBARA JEAN BARNETT BRANNON, age 79, of Jacksonvil­le passed away Friday,

August 24, 2018 in Little Rock.

She was born November 5,

1938 in North

Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Ernest and

Nellie Blair Barnett. On October 24, 1959, she married Wayne Brannon in Cabot, Arkansas. Mrs. Brannon graduated from the Arkansas State Teachers College. She taught school for the Pulaski County School District for 31 years until retiring in 1992. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Brannon served as the organist for the First United Methodist Church, First Presbyteri­an Church and the First Christian Church in North Little Rock. She and her husband loved to travel where she went on 20 cruises throughout her life.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Brannon of the home; daughter, Cindy (Tim) New of Sherwood; granddaugh­ter, Sabrina (John) Smith of Ward.

–––––❖––––– GLENN REED ELDRIDGE, 79, departed this earthly life Sunday, August 26, at home in Maumelle, Arkansas. The seventh child born to the late Vester and Glennie Eldridge, he grew up on a farm at Birta, Arkansas. He was the owner of Glenn Eldridge Plumbing Company, Inc. for 40 years, retiring in 2008. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed working on antique farm tractors.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marilyn Jaynes Eldridge; two sons, Jason (Donna Rae) of Mayflower, Arkansas and Jody (Leah) of Rogers, Arkansas; two grandchild­ren, Jesse and Winona Eldridge of Mayflower; two sisters, Joyce Baskins of Mountain Home and Anna (Charles) Kiser of Grand Rapids, Michigan; one brother, Hugh (Margie) Eldridge of Birta; one dear brother-in-law, Carroll West of Fayettevil­le; and several nieces and nephews. Other than his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by two brothers, T.J. and Billy Eldridge; two sisters, Sue Martin and Patsy Jean, who died as a toddler.

GLEN ALAN HIBBS, 63, of Jacksonvil­le, Arkansas, died August 24, 2018 at the place he loved the most on earth. He was our brother, our Uncle Glen, and our friend; they don’t make enough ink to describe the people whose lives Glen touched in love.

Glen was that sort of man, and lived a good life by anyone’s measure. –––––❖––––– SHIRLEY SUE KNIGHT, 80, of Jacksonvil­le died Sunday, August 26, 2018 in Cabot. She was born November 6, 1937 in Marked Tree to the late Faye Nicholas and Bessie Mae McKinney Shown. Mrs. Knight was a longtime resident of Jacksonvil­le and a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. She attended nursing school in Jonesboro and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Knight was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Edward Knight and sons, Michael and Mark Travis. Mrs. Knight is survived by her siblings, Elizabeth Joy Cox of Jacksonvil­le, Dan T. Shown of Tuckerman and Joan Belt of San Antonio, Texas and two grandsons.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lester Peeples and grandson, Corey Clarke. Betty was selfless and very forgiving. She opened her home to everyone. She was an avid Razorback fan and will be missed by very many people.

DON W. RHEA, 80, of North Little Rock, passed away August 22, 2018 at Baptist Medical Center. He was born May 30, 1938 in Benton, Arkansas to the late Clarence and Adell Ewell Rhea. Don spent his entire life serving others. He was the program coordinato­r for Our House Homeless Shelter for 20 years. After retiring, he worked several more years for Arkansas Rice Depot.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Adell Ewell Rhea; daughters: Kellie Rhea and Allison Stroud; and one baby lost in pregnancy. He leaves behind his wife, Laura Rhea of North Little Rock; sons: Robert Mark Rhea of Texas and Randy Rhea (Sophia); daughter-in-law, Buggy Rhea of Benton; grandchild­ren: Alex (Jessica) Stroud of Beebe, Joshua Stroud of Conway, Sara (Miles) McPherson of North Little Rock, Caleb Stroud of Mayflower, Wesley Rhea and Jessica (Jesse) Baxley of Benton, Kara and Leah Stegall of Hot Springs, and Ashley Sisco of Texarkana; and three great-grandchild­ren who brought him joy, smiles, and love.

He died knowing his Lord Jesus Christ paid his debts in full. He fought with all the strength he had to stay every day possible to care for those who loved him. Not even his family know all the acts of generosity and kindness he performed, but what they know is amazing.

HOT SPRINGS — Gary Charles Miller, 63, of Hot Springs, passed at home on Saturday, August

25, 2018. He was born on May 23,

1955 in Little

Rock, Arkansas to his parents

William and Imogene Miller.

He grew up in Arkansas along with his younger brother, Alan. Gary attended Hall High School where he was actively involved as a member of National Honor Society and Beta Club, awarded the Outstandin­g Student in Physics and Chemistry, and the First-Chair All-State alto saxophone player. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Managerial Studies from Rice University, magna cum laude, where he was a Hanszen College Fellow, a Southwest Conference Sportsmans­hip Representa­tive, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. After college, he went to the University of Texas School of Law where he graduated with his Doctor of Jurisprude­nce, with honors. He pursued a successful legal career as a partner at Andrews Kurth, L.L.P. (and predecesso­r by merger, Mayor, Day, Caldwell & Keeton, L.L.P.) in Houston, Texas before making the move to Hot Springs, Arkansas, where he joined Miller Miller Churchwell, and helped numerous clients in matters such as complex bankruptcy cases, general litigation, and family law.

Despite his numerous accomplish­ments and accolades, he always stated his proudest accomplish­ment was being the father to his children, Daniel and Sarah Miller, who are left to honor, love, and remember him along with their mother Karen; his mother, Imogene; younger brother, Alan; nephews, Jeffery and Michael; daughter-in-law, Lisa; cherished grandson, Trevor (who called him Grandpa “Buddy”), Mary Catherine; adored pets, Cleo and Orville, and countless cherished friends. He is reunited in death with loved ones like his father, William Scott Miller; grandparen­ts; great friends such as Wes and Lindy, and beloved dogs, Hanszen, Dylan, Harry, Larkin, and Barney.

August 26, 2018.

He was born on September 8,

1942, in Little

Rock, Arkansas.

Charlie was a faithful member of Lonoke Baptist Church for

45 years, serving as an usher and on various committees.

He was known as the “Candy

Man” for handing out live savers to all the children every

Sunday morning. Charlie was also a member of Gideons Internatio­nal, serving as vice-president for the last several years.

Charlie loved to hunt whatever was in season. He and his brothers-in-law had a hunting cabin in Clark County. His brothers-in-law: Joe, Clell, Charlie and Willis Callaway were more like brothers to him and he was always excited when hunting season opened. Charlie’s greatest joy was his family and being Gran-Gran to Lauren and Ryan who were the light of his life.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents Norwood and Helen (Polly) Travis and sister Pat Jones and husband Don. He leaves to cherish his memory wife Florence Callaway Travis, son and business partner for 30 years, Lance Lewis Travis and wife Stacia, daughter, DeeDee Travis, and grandchild­ren, Ryan and Lauren Travis.

–––––❖––––– OKOLONA — Reba Jean White, 91, died Tuesday evening, August 21, in Las Vegas,

Nevada. She had been in hospice care after suffering multiple strokes a few months ago. She was born April

18, 1927, near Donaldson and had lived in the

Trinity Community near Okolona and Arkadelphi­a since 1946.

She is survived by her son, Fred White, of Las Vegas; her daughter, Gloria White (David Gogol), of Washington, D.C., her grandchild­ren, Catherine Gogol and Nikolas Gogol, both of Washington, D.C., her brother, Gleason F. McGuire, of Alexander, Arkansas, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years Truman F. White, her parents Dave McGuire and Marie Whiteley McGuire and her siblings Floy McGuire Strother, Harrison McGuire, Clayton McGuire, Agee McGuire Hall and Horace McGuire. Reba Jean’s twin, Royce Glen, and Horace’s twin, Doris Marie, both died in infancy.

Until her move to Las Vegas a few years ago, necessitat­ed by declining health, she had lived her entire life in the area of Okolona, Arkadelphi­a and Malvern. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church near Okolona for almost 60 years, becoming a member in 1949. She served as a Trustee of Trinity and worked with fellow members of the church to rebuild after the building was destroyed by a tornado a number of years ago. Prior to her retirement she worked at Henderson State University in the Student Union from the 1960’s until about 1980. She was a gifted seamstress making everything from doll clothes and Halloween costumes to wedding dresses and men’s business suits. –––––❖––––– RISON — Samuel M. Sinks, Jr. TSGT USAF (Ret.), age 83, of Rison, passed away at home after a long illness surrounded by his daughter,

Debbie and two granddaugh­ters, Melanie and

Karla on Sunday,

August 26, 2018.

Mr. Sinks was born in Kingsland, Arkansas on June 12, 1935 to the late Samuel M. Sinks, Sr. and Pricilla Ivy (Oldner) Sinks. He was reared in Rison and Kingsland until age 17 and his 1952 enlistment in the Army National Guard until 1954 serving in Georgia, then enlisting into the United States Air Force in July of 1954. He served his country stateside and overseas to include a tour in Vietnam with the 35th Tactical Fighter Wing in 1967, retiring from the military in 1974 while with the 410 Field Maintenanc­e Squadron at KI Sawyer AFB, Michigan. Upon retirement from military service he returned to Watson Chapel/Pine Bluff area and eventually settled in Rison in 1977. Mr. Sinks was very active and continued to work, including the US Postal System, the Watson Chapel School District as their Head Bus Mechanic until 1992, and a Volunteer Firefighte­r for the Y212/35 Fire Department of Rison and election poll booth worker for Cleveland County until age 79.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Darlene Jarrett Sinks who passed in 2011, his parents, six sisters, Louise Reed Doyle, Bernice Herb, Rosie Estes, Kathryn Taylor, Marianne Russ, Lorene Sanders and his brother James A. Sinks. Mr. Sinks is survived by his four children, Sammy Sinks (Elizabeth) of Wimberley, Texas, Jimmy Sinks (Marsha) of Cabot, Ark., Debbie Sinks of Rison, Ark., and Cathy Robinson (David) of Louisville, Ky. He is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Harrell (James) of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Corrine Nichols (Roland) of Hampton, Ark., 10 grandchild­ren, Davona, Melanie, Karla, Dustin, Shaun, Jason D., Journey, Shianne, Aubrey and Pheonix as well as several great-grandchild­ren and a host of nieces and nephews to mourn his passing.

He was born

January 4, 1942 in Benton. Boyce was retired from Reynolds. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rosie Harris Williams, brothers, Hubert and Johnny Williams, sisters, Faye Halpain and Wanda Reynolds.
