Former Beatle Paul McCartney told a British newspaper he believes he once saw God during a psychedelic trip. The 76-year-old star told The Sunday Times he was “humbled” by the experience. He said that “it was huge. A massive wall that I couldn’t see the top of, and I was at the bottom. And anybody else would say it’s just the drug, the hallucination, but we felt we had seen a higher thing.”

The Beatles’ music was heavily influenced by psychedelic drugs in the band’s final years. McCartney also spoke of allowing himself to believe that his lost loved ones, including his late wife Linda, are “looking down” on him. The singer is promoting a new album and a tour. He remains one of music’s most popular concert acts.

m The band U2 ended a concert in Berlin on Saturday partway through its performance after its lead singer, Bono, said he had lost his voice. The band had just finished playing the song “Beautiful Day,” with Bono visibly struggling to belt out the lyrics, when he halted the concert, apologized to the audience and said the band “cannot go on.” Earlier in the show, Bono told the audience that he thought the smoke machines were interfering with his ability to sing. “I’ve lost my voice and I don’t know what to do,” Bono said before the show was halted. “I was singing like a bird 10 minutes ago. I’m sure it will pass.” In a statement released after the show, which was part of the band’s European Experience + Innocence tour that is set to run through November, the band apologized. “Bono was in great form and great voice prior to the show and we were all looking forward to the second night in Berlin, but after a few songs, he suffered a complete loss of voice,” the statement said. “We don’t know what has happened and we’re taking medical advice.” The band’s representatives could not immediately be reached for comment Sunday.

Several fellow actors have come to the defense of a former regular on The Cosby Show after photos of him working a regular job at the grocery store showed up on news sites. The photos showed Geoffrey Owens, who played Elvin Tibideaux, the husband of the oldest daughter of Bill Cosby’s character on the TV show. He is seen at a register scanning items at a New Jersey Trader Joe’s complete with a “Geoffrey” name tag. The woman who submitted the photos seemed stunned to see someone from such a popular show doing that type of work. But several actors pointed out they have to make a living between gigs and places that offer health insurance are especially attractive.
