What time does the Senior Expo start?

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat., Sept. 15, 2018

Where is the Senior Expo held?

The event is at the Statehouse Convention Center, 101 E. Markham St. in Little Rock, in Governor’s Halls 3 and 4.

Who should attend?

All seniors and baby boomers 55 and older, along with their family members and caregivers, are invited to attend this event. Informatio­n about health care and wellness will be provided, as well as products and services of particular interest to people in this age group.

Is there an admission charge?

This is a free event. All seminars, health screenings and entertainm­ent — including Arkansas Travelers Bingo — are part of the event and are free. Cash or credit cards will be needed for the purchase of merchandis­e and for concession­s.

How do I get to the event?

Free transporta­tion will be provided for those who want to avoid downtown traffic. Select Charter will be provided from the State Capitol parking lot in Little Rock to the Statehouse Convention Center from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with pickup and drop-offs every half hour. Parking is free at the State Capitol lot. The lot is located just behind the State Capitol, off West Seventh Street between Wolfe Street and Marshall Street. There will also be a Select Charter option from Hot Springs Village, with only one scheduled pickup at 8 a.m. and drop-off at 3:15 p.m. Departure time for leaving the Statehouse Convention Center will be 2:15 p.m. Those who choose this option can park at the Cranford’s East Gate, 25255 Arkansas 5 in Lonsdale. Space is limited. Parking is also available downtown. Metered parking is free on weekends but will be limited. Parking lots are located throughout the downtown area, including spaces at Second and Commerce streets, and near the Interstate 30 off-ramp. (Some parking lots may charge a fee for special events.) Private parking lots and decks are located throughout the downtown area and do charge a fee. Locations include one at Sherman and Second streets, and one at Second and Main streets. Rates are $1.50 per hour or $5 per day. Parking spaces for people with disabiliti­es are located in the downtown area. These spaces, designated with special signs for visibility and convenienc­e, can be found in the following locations: • The 400 block of State Street; • The 100 block of Spring Street; • The 300 block of Main Street; • The 500 block of Main Street; • The 600 block of Main Street; • The 100 block of West Markham Street; • The 100 block of Ottenheime­r Plaza; and • The 600 block of President Clinton Avenue. The River Rail Trolley is also an option for those who want to park and ride. There are several routes available, and rates vary. See rrmetro.org for more details.

What can I expect at the event?

Everyone who enters will be given a bag to use throughout the event to carry the informatio­n they receive from the 40 businesses in attendance. The first 500 attendees will also receive a compliment­ary copy of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Entertainm­ent at the event includes a performanc­e by The Rep, Arkansas Travelers Bingo and multiple vendors and exhibits, such as the UAMS Mammovan.

How do I register for giveaways?

Prizes will be given away throughout the event. To register for prizes, visit the prize-registrati­on booth near the stage. Attendees do not have to be present to win the hourly prizes but must be present to win the Grand Prize Giveaway. This year’s Ultimate Giveaway grand-prize will feature a variety of gifts, including an Annual Comprehens­ive Medication Review — a pharmacist consultati­on, a Guardian Alert 911 System and a Walker Health Mart Advanced Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor from Cornerston­e Pharmacy; a $1,000 gift card from Granite Transforma­tions; a portfolio/retirement review session from Edward Jones financial advisor Brooks Browning; a 73-piece premium Explorer Road Kit from AAA; tickets from The Rep; and a Walmart gift card from CapTel Captioned Telephone Service.

Is the event handicap accessible?

The event will be wheelchair friendly, and reserved seating will be available at the stage. See above for handicap-accessible parking options.

Will there be concession­s?

The Little Rock Marriott will have breakfast, lunch and snack options for sale throughout the day, including granola bars, sausage biscuits, hot dogs and turkey wraps. Water, tea, soda and coffee will also be for sale.
