Woman arrested in March 2017 killing in LR

- CLARA TURNAGE

More than a year after a man was found shot dead on a couch in Little Rock, authorities said officers arrested the woman they think pulled the trigger.

After an 18-month investigation, Little Rock investigators arrested and charged Leta Vanessa Snow, 34, with capital murder and aggravated robbery, spokesman officer Steve Moore said Wednesday.

Moore said though original reports listed suspects as two men, the investigation led officers to interrogate Snow on Tuesday, after which they arrested her on a warrant.

Martina Hill told police in March 2017 that she and Eric Gavin, 45, were in a house at 1314 W. 19th St. when two men entered the residence just before midnight with guns and demanded money, according to a police report.

Hill told police that the men told her to go to the rear of the home and while she waited, she heard a gunshot.

Hill said once the people left, she ran from the house and called 911.

When officers arrived, they found Gavin dead on the couch, according to a news release.

Snow has been convicted of domestic battery, possession of instruments of crime, loitering, and prostitution in the past 12 months.

Moore said the investigators do not anticipate arresting anyone else in Gavin’s death.

Snow was in the Pulaski County jail as of Thursday evening with no bail set.

Gavin’s death was one of five homicides in four days in Little Rock in March 2017.

Days after his death, his widow, Latonja Gavin, participated in a protest with anti-violence activists and pleaded with anyone who knew anything about Gavin’s death to step forward.
