MINUTE WITH A MANAGER

Diann Mikkelson OWNER HAPPY DAYS RV SALES

-

Q. How do you start your day? A. My day starts with feeding my pets, then getting ready for whatever this beautiful world has in store for me.

Q. What is your best workday? A. My best workday is Saturday. Nobody is in a rush, and it is a nice time to visit with customers.

Q. What is your typical workday in a nutshell? A. There is nothing typical about a day in this business. Every day is a new day with new happenings.

Q. What is your worst workday? A. I don’t really have a bad day at work. I enjoy what I do.

Q. Why I love working for my business: A. I get to meet a lot of people and really get to know many of them.

Q. What is your company’s best attribute? A. Being a small, locally owned business without a lot of corporate roadblocks. Everyone who works with me has been here many years, and we are like family.

Q. Where would people find you on your days off, and what would you be doing? A. I would be doing charitable work with the Fraternal Order of Eagles, be road-tripping or possibly be at a casino.

Q. What is one thing people don’t know about the company you work for? A. In 1989, we started Happy Days in a little shack we bought and pulled off the mountain, and little by little, the business grew. After three rented locations, we settled where we are today.

Q. If you weren’t in this business, you would be: A. I have no idea what I would be doing. After 29 years in the recreational-vehicle business, what do you do? Maybe sell mangoes on an island somewhere.

Q. What is the best business advice you have ever received, and from whom? A. My late husband, Wayne, said, “Treat all people the same, and by that, I mean treat them all well.”

Q. What do you love about your community? A. I feel very fortunate to live in the River Valley. I have met some of the most incredible people and consider many of them to be more than customers; I consider them friends.
