KRISTEN “KRIS” KAY BALDWIN, 52, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018. She was born on April 1, 1966 in Clinton, Iowa to parents Richard Lewandowsk­i and Mary Kay Evans. Kris worked as a beautician for most of her life and was known for her care-free attitude and incredibly outgoing, bubbly personalit­y. Kris loved to laugh and was notorious for popping out of hiding spots to scare her friends and family and pulling other pranks on them. She was a wonderfull­y thoughtful friend, mother, sister, daughter, and aunt, and was always just a phone call away for anyone who

needed help or just wanted some cheering up. She had a beautiful, bright smile that could light up a room when she walked in. She never met a stranger in her life and was loved by everyone lucky enough to meet her.

Kris is preceded in death by her father, Richard Lewandowsk­i. She is survived by her three beloved children: Kyle Baldwin, Ryan Williams, and Alyssa Williams; her mother, Mary Kay Evans; her step-father, Jim Evans; her step-mother, Becky Lewandowsk­i; her three siblings: Steve “Weebs” Lewandowsk­i, Kerri Littleton, and Marsha Gibson; and her four feline children: Duck, Whitey, Stretchy, and Yimpy.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Phyllis Christine Sims.

–––––❖––––– JACQUELINE SUE (MERIWEATHE­R) BASS, age 67, of Sherwood, Arkansas, was freed from her long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Sunday, September 30, 2018.

She had been in the care of the wonderful staff at Spring Creek

Health and Rehab and Arkansas Hospice the last weeks of her life.

Jackie was born on October 26, 1950 to W.C. and Winnie Meriweathe­r in Little Rock, Arkansas. She earned two Master’s degrees in special education and enjoyed teaching mentally and physically handicappe­d children for many years at Northwood Jr. High School. She loved the Lord and set an amazing Christian example for all who knew her, teaching and serving in many ways at Highway Baptist and then at Bethel Baptist Church. She dedicated her life also to her three girls and her grandchild­ren, who lovingly referred to her as their “Nai Nai”.

She is now reunited in Heaven with her mother, Winnie, and her sister, Vicky. She leaves to cherish her memories her father, Cliff, her brother, Michael, her three girls Amy (Julian) Sims, Kimberly (Jon) Haverstick, Amanda (Russell) Recometa, her seven grandbabie­s Emily, Liam, Noah, Grace, Anna, Jett, and Kate, her best friend Debbie Bowie, and a host of other friends and family.

Her life will be celebrated with a remembranc­e service held Saturday, October 6, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in North Little Rock and all who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and can choose to wear her favorite color, purple.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill Darling.

Bob graduated from Central High School in 1956 where he was a member of the undefeated Tiger football team. He also played football at UCA where he graduated in 1960.

Bob was a sales manager throughout most of his working years, and retired from Vining Sparks, IBG in 2008. He loved boating, golf, the Texas Rangers, dancing and singing but most of all his family.

–––––❖––––– CHARLES NATHAN GREGORY, resident of Little Rock, formerly of Augusta, Arkansas passed peacefully on October 2, 2018 at the age of 66. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee on January 31, 1952, the son of Noel Kennady and Margaret Stockley Gregory.

Nathan was a 1971 graduate of Laura Conner High School in Augusta. In 1975 he graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayettevil­le with a degree in Agricultur­al Business. At the U of A he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and the Schola Cantorum Choir. On December 27, 1975 he married Miss Brenda Brawley of Earle, Arkansas. They lived their lives in Augusta, raised their three children there, and Nathan managed the Gregory Family Farm. As a lifelong member of Augusta First Baptist Church, he served as Deacon, Choir Director, Soloist, Youth Director, and Sunday School Teacher. In the community Nathan served on the board of the Woodruff County Farm Bureau and on the Augusta City Council.

Nathan is preceded in death by his father, Noel Kennady Gregory and one brother, Minor Gregory. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Brawley Gregory of Little Rock, Arkansas, his mother, Margaret Stockley Gregory of Gregory, Arkansas, two sons, Wade Gregory and wife Jenny of Little Rock, Arkansas, Cliff Gregory of Nashville, Tennessee, one daughter, Sarah Frascone and husband Mike of Prescott, Arizona, one brother, Noel Gregory Jr. of Houston, Texas, one sister, Betsy Arnim of Little Rock, Arkansas, a sister-inlaw, Emily Gregory of Little Rock, Arkansas, and six grandchild­ren: Lily, Evan, and Madeline Gregory, Cayden Pederson, and Adelaide and Conrad Frascone.

–––––❖––––– HARRELL GENE MAYS, 88 of Little Rock, formerly of Jonesboro, passed away on October 2nd surrounded by his family. Mr. Mays was born November 19, 1929 in North Jonesboro, Arkansas to John R. and Allie Wood

Mays. He attended Jonesboro public schools and graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1947.

He began learning the electrical trade in 1946 – at $.50 per hour by working for local contractor­s. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy after graduation as an electricia­n and served on the destroyer U.S.S. John R. Craig (DD-885). He was honorably discharged in 1952 and used his training to become a journeyman wireman and later a master electricia­n and the Business Manager for the Internatio­nal Brotherhoo­d of Electrical Workers Union 1516 of which he remained a member for over 65 years.

As a result of his activities with the IBEW, Mr. Mays came to the attention of Governor Orval E. Faubus and was appointed to the Arkansas Workmen’s Compensati­on Commission. He served as a Commission­er from 1964 until 1970 when he was appointed as a Federal Mediator with the Federal Mediation and Conciliati­on Service.

His service with FMCS took him and his family to Anchorage, Alaska – when he accepted an assignment as the Government Labor Mediator for the constructi­on of the trans-Alaska pipeline. When that assignment was complete, his position took him to Denver, Colorado, back to Little Rock and finally Memphis, Tennessee where he retired in 1997 after 27 years as a mediator.

He completed law school at night at UALR prior to moving to Alaska and took business classes at the University of Alaska in Anchorage. While with the FMCS, Commission­er Mays mediated many negotiatio­ns and strikes on the Alaska Oil Pipeline, various Alaska Teacher’s Unions and mediated the 1987 Teacher’s strike in Little Rock that closed schools for six days.

For over 65 years he was a member of Jonesboro’s F&AM #129 and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the honorable order of Kentucky Colonels, a member of the Kiwanis Club and the American Legion Post #21.

He enjoyed being outdoors as an avid hunter, fisherman and he loved playing golf. He always had a “project” and helped both his daughters renovate their homes in the last few years. He left his legacy in Jonesboro by subdividin­g his family’s property on Greensboro Road into a small neighborho­od known as the Mays addition.

Mr. Mays is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jenna Garner Mays, daughters, Leigh Mays Grant and Patti Mays all of Little Rock, son, John Mays and his wife Deana of Raleigh, N.C. and two granddaugh­ters, Elizabeth Parish Grant of Fayettevil­le and Catherine Anne Grant of Little Rock. He is also survived by his sister, Sarah Frances Dacus of Jonesboro, two nephews and their families.

Visitation will be held at Emerson Funeral Home, 1629 E. Nettleton, Jonesboro, Arkansas Thursday, October 4th from Noon until 1:30 p.m. followed by graveside service and burial at Ransom Cemetery, Greensboro Road.

Randall was a meat packer for C. Finkbeiner, Smoky Hollow Food for many years. He was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Mabelvale. Randall was a sergeant in the Army during the Korean War, a leader of the Boy Scouts, member of the American Red Cross and the American Legion.

ARKADELPHI­A — Keylon Jackson died October 1, 2018. He was born to Carl D. Jackson and Susan Watson Jackson in 1924 in Hollywood, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of sixty-one years, Grace Sossamon Jackson; sister, Nadine; and son, Kevin Jackson of Omaha, Nebraska. Keylon is survived by his daughter-in-law, Tami Jackson of Omaha, Nebraska; three grandchild­ren, Brent, Claire and Sarah Jackson all of Omaha, Nebraska; and sister-in-law, Betty Smith of Sparkman, Arkansas.

He served his country for three years in the South Pacific Islands. He graduated high school in Arkadelphi­a in 1942 and Henderson State University in 1950.

Keylon worked for Amoco/BP Oil Company for 35 years in regional office in Atlanta, Georgia; and retired as manager of operations in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1984.

He is a member of First Methodist Church in Arkadelphi­a. He is also a 32nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite.

He was a graduate of Cabot High School and Ouachita Baptist University. He attended Mid-Western Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. Lawrence was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War serving in the U. S. Air Force and the U. S. Navy. He was a minister for over 40 years serving churches in Arkansas and Missouri.

Carter was born on January 4, 1925 in Danville, Virginia to John Guerrant and Mary Archer Glass Boatwright. She graduated from Stratford Hall in 1943 and attended Randolph Macon College and New York School of Interior Design. In 1948, she married Charles Willis Afflick, Jr. of Blythevill­e. She was an active member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Chapter N. P.E.O. and a much beloved member of her community. Carter enjoyed playing tennis, painting and traveling. She adored her family and was a much loved Nanny to her grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sally Afflick; sister, Betty Updike; and brother, Robert Boatwright. Carter leaves her husband, Charles W. Afflick, Jr.; daughter, Carter Whisenhunt (Brock) of Little Rock; son, Charles W. Bill’s life will be cherished by his wife of 18 years, Jacqueline Jones. His son, Richard Jones; stepdaught­ers, Valerie Jones (Randy), Michelle Henning; stepsons, Steve Henning (Gail) & David Henning. Brothers, Wayne (Dot), Bobby (Charlette). Along with 14 grandchild­ren, four great-grandchild­ren and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Tommie Russell Jones.

Always active in his community and dedicated to his county, Bill was a veteran of the United States Air Force. A staunch Democratic supporter, an active member of the United Steel Workers of America Local Union 04880.

Member of the Knights of Columbus (Fourth Degree) of the Hot Springs Village Assembly 2316. Not to mention the fun with the fellow members of the Hot Springs Village Bocce Club.

Retiring from Alcoa after 36 years of service, a job he relished with his co-workers he truly enjoyed being around and continued to visit while attending the many breakfast gatherings at Brown’s Country Kitchen, Bill and Jacqueline then became world travelers for many years.

A special thank you to the hospice nurses at St. Vincent’s for providing comfort during the final days. Wanda was raised and received her early education in Peach Orchard, Missouri, later graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1956. She married James D. Walker on August 12, 1956. They enjoyed 62 wonderful years together.

Wanda worked as a secretary for Central Moloney, Central Baptist Church, and the Juvenile Court of Jefferson County. Later, being self-employed, she worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for the family’s three businesses.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother ,Cecil T. Wood, and an infant grandson. Wanda is survived by her husband, James; a son, Greg Walker (Janet), two daughters, Debra Oldner (Chip), Gale Inzer (Wayne), all of Pine Bluff; one brother, Robert Wood (Wanda). Wanda was an amazing “Gran” to six grandchild­ren, Nicole Harrod (Trey), Adam Oldner (Jennifer), Mandy Cotten (Brandon), Carol Anne Rowland (Kyle), Maegan Waldrip (Nathan), Jamie Oldner; seven great-grandchild­ren, Dalton and Paxton Oldner, Adalynn and Abbie Anne Harrod, Townsend Cotten, Walker Rowland and Miles Waldrip.
