Isaiah Campbell threw three shutout innings, got out of a bases-loaded jam and was backed up by the bottom of the University of Arkansas lineup in another exhibition victory Friday night.

Campbell held the University of Arkansas at Little Rock scoreless over three innings, and redshirt freshman Jacob Nesbit scored three runs and drove in three more to lead six different Razorbacks who scored in an 11-2 victory at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock. UALR did not announce an attendance figure, but Athletic Director Chasse Conque said 1,400 tickets were sold.

In what is believed to be the first game ever between the Razorbacks and the Trojans in baseball — regular season or exhibition — Campbell struck out three and needed to wiggle out of a jam in the third inning a week after holding Wichita State to one run over four innings. He hit Miguel Soto to lead off the third, walked Christian Reyes, and Eldridge Figeuroa reached when Campbell and third baseman Jack Kenley collided while trying to field a bunt.

With the bases loaded, Campbell struck out Chase Coker and Riley Pittman looking, and got Garrett Scott to ground out to end the threat.

Nesbit drove in 3 runs, scored 3 runs, stole 2 bases and hit 2 singles to power a Razorback offense that had 13 hits off five Trojan pitchers. His sacrifice fly in the second inning scored Kenley to give Arkansas a 1-0 lead, then he reached on an error in the fourth and scored on Matt Goodheart’s single. He then ripped a two-run single in the eighth, stole second base and scored on a bases-loaded walk. He singled and scored on Casey Martin’s two-run single in the ninth.

Christian Franklin also scored three runs, while Casey Opitz scored twice for the Razorbacks. Coach Dave Van Horn used six different pitchers, including closer Matt Cronin, who struck out the side in the ninth.

Troy Alexander’s home run served as UALR’s first run when he led off the fourth with a shot to right field off Jacob Kostyshock. Reyes scored the Trojans’ only other run in the eighth when he doubled and scored on Coker’s single to right field.

The Trojans will play their second exhibition game Oct. 27 at Ole Miss. The Razorbacks will conclude their fall season with their Fall World Series that begins Monday.
