Izard County Historical Society Meeting
BROCKWELL — The Izard County Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. at the Izard County Senior Center on Arkansas 9, south of Brockwell. Brooks Blevins, an Izard county native and the Noel Boyd Professor of Ozarks Studies at Missouri State University in Springfield, will be the speaker. Blevins will discuss and sign copies of his most recent book, A History of the Ozarks, Volume 1: The Old Ozarks,
which focuses on this Ozarks region before the Civil War. The meeting is open to the public.
STARS Meeting

Spin/Cycle Class
MELBOURNE — Ozarka College in Melbourne will offer spin/cycle classes through Continuing Education on Monday and Oct. 22 and 29, and Nov. 5. There will be two sessions: Session A at 4 p.m. and session B at 4:45 p.m.
All classes will be taught by Anna Richards and will meet in Room C106 of the John E. Miller Education Complex. The 30-minute courses will cover proper alignment and provide guidelines for gears, exertion and RPMs for various drill types. The cost of four classes is $40 or $32 for students 60 and older. Beginning Hoop Dance
ASH FLAT — Ozarka CollegeAsh Flat, 64 College Drive, will offer a Beginning Hoop Dance class through the Continuing Education program from 6:307:30 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 15 through Nov. 5, in the Lecture Hall at Ozarka College, and if weather permits, the class will meet outside. The classes, led by Kelly Shell, will focus on
beginning and basic techniques and will help participants improve their range of motion by focusing on movement, breath and flexibility. The cost is $60 or $48 for students ages 60 and older, and preregistration is required. Total Body HIIT Class
MELBOURNE — Total Body High Intensity Interval Training classes will meet at 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 15 through Nov. 5, in Room C106 of the John E. Miller Education Complex at Ozarka College. The 30-minute courses, taught by Jamie Holley, will cover a variety of cardio, strength and flexibility activities with circuit-style training and are appropriate for beginning and advanced participants. Cleburne County Retired Teachers Meeting
HEBER SPRINGS — The Cleburne County Retired Teachers Association will meet at noon at the Rustic Inn, 404 S. ASU-Beebe Choral Concerts

Fairy Tale Fun Run
CAVE CITY — The Ozark Foothills Literacy Project’s first Fairy Tale Fun Run will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday on West South Street. Participants can bring their favorite characters to life as they run, walk, roll or stroll. There will be activities for kids and the young at heart, vendors and a costume

Jamboree on the Air
CABOT — STARS (Small Town Amateur Radio Service), an American Legion Post 71 activity, will participate in the Scouting Jamboree on the Air (JOTA), which allows Scouts worldwide to contact each other by HAM radio. STARS will set up a radio station, starting at 8 a.m., at Cabot Pond Park on Campground Road. Lunch will be at noon. Attendees are asked to bring a side dish or chips. GED Classes available
MOUNTAIN VIEW/MAMMOTH SPRING — GED classes are available at Ozarka College. Classes in Mountain View will meet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and classes in Mammoth Spring will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
