AUSTIN — Eugene Douglas Rye, 91, of Austin, passed away November 15, 2018, in Little Rock. He was born April 27, 1927, in Paragould, Arkansas, to the

late Andrew and Eunice Rye. Eugene was a United States Navy veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Betty; two children, Theresa and Doug Rye; three grandchild­ren; six great-grandchild­ren; sisters, Kitty (Glen) Eaton and Sue Carrington; brother, James Rye, several nieces and nephews and many friends made while living and working in seven different cities around the state during his forty year work career with AP&L.

Following cremation, his ashes will be buried by his family at a later date in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Cabot. He requested no flowers or memorials, only fond memories of those who knew him.
