Homelessness topic of speech
A community worker who wrote a book about helping to build homes for homeless people in Charlotte, N.C., will speak at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service on Nov. 29.
Kathy Izard says that while her dedicated service at a community soup kitchen might feed her soul, it would never solve the bigger needs of the homeless population. Her book — The Hundred Story Home — chronicles a journey that began with the question she asked herself — “Where are the beds?” — and ended with more than 100 hundred formerly homeless people living in homes of their own.
The lecture is scheduled from 6 p.m.-7 p.m., with a book signing afterward, at Sturgis Hall on the Clinton Presidential Center complex, 1200 President Clinton Ave. in Little Rock. Sturgis Hall is the former Choctaw Railway building.
All Clinton School Speaker Series events are open to the public. Admission is free. Reservations are available by emailing publicprograms@ clintonschool.uasys.edu or by calling (501) 683-5239.
