ASU, UALR advance to semifinals

Arkansas State University and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock advanced to the Sun Belt Conference semifinals with victories Friday in Atlanta.

The Red Wolves (20-12) defeated Coastal Carolina (13-13) 2517, 25-15, 22-25, 25-20 and will play Appalachian State.

The Trojans (19-11) defeated Texas-Arlington (17-12) 25-16, 25-18, 25-21. UALR will meet Texas State today.

Carlisa May led the Red Wolves with 18 kills and 10 digs. Ellie Watkins finished with 43 assists. Madison Turner had 10 kills, and Macey Putt had 13 kills and 12 digs. Tatum Tiknor had 19 digs.

Veronica Marin led UALR with nine kills. Taylor Lindberg had 20 assists while Pamela Zuluaga had 17. Diana Giordani had 15 digs while Mya Robinson had 10.
