Harding holds off Ouachita Baptist

Kellie Lampo scored 27 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Harding University to a 79-75 victory over Ouachita Baptist on Saturday in Searcy.

The Bisons (16-6, 11-5 Great American Conference) shot 53 percent from the floor (31 of 58) and overcame 20 turnovers in beating the Tigers (6-16, 4-12). They outrebound­ed OBU 39-28, holding a 14-8 edge in second-chance points.

Harding overcame OBU making 8 of 23 three-pointers, including 5 of 10 by Rylee Lavender, who had 20 points for the Tigers, along with Madison Brittain.

Cheyenne Brown had 17 points for Harding and Carissa Caples finished with 15.

In other games, involving state Division II teams, Jacie Higgins scored 18 points and Hannah Villines had 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead Arkansas Tech University (10-12, 7-9 GAC) over Southern Arkansas University (2-20, 1-15) in Magnolia. Ke’Vonshaye Stackhouse added 15 points and Lyrik Williams scored 14 for the Golden Suns. Tamera Shaver led SAU with 13 points. … Pink Jones scored 23 points, had 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead Henderson State University (16-6, 11-5 GAC) to a victory over the University of Arkansas at Monticello (5-16, 4-12) in Monticello. Mackenzie Johnson and Jaida Harden led the Cotton Blossoms with 13 points apiece.
