Groups offering tax help for free

-

EL DORADO — El Dorado Connections and the Central Arkansas Development Council are offering free tax assistance for low-income residents.

El Dorado Connections Director Julia Amis said volunteers can help people to fill out income-tax forms and submit them electronically through IRS-approved software.

An appointment can be scheduled at (870) 639-3782. During an appointment, a visitor meets with a volunteer who is a certified expert. The volunteer then helps go through the tax forms.

To file taxes, a person will need a photo ID, Social Security card, W2 or other pertinent forms and banking information.

Amis said those who wish to itemize their taxes will need to have that information as well.

People are also encouraged to take their previous tax return if they have it.

Amis said services are offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until April 11. Taxes are due to the IRS by April 17.
