McClellan secures region’s No. 2 seed

LITTLE ROCK McCLELLAN 68, eSTEM 67
Little Rock McClellan secured the No. 2 seed to the 4A East region next week with a 68-67 victory over eStem on Thursday night in the 4A-5 Conference finale at the Lions’ Den.
Jake Profit, eStem’s 6-4 senior who finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds, had a chance to send the game into overtime, but he missed the front end of a two-shot foul with 0.2 seconds remaining. Profit made the second free throw to set the final.
Ian Robinson scored 8 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter for McClellan (20-7, 13-3). Senior Demetrius Torrence added 16 points while Elijah Green scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half.
Sophomore Mehki Perkins led the Mets (22-11, 11-5) with 22 points. Senior Derrick Caffey scored 10 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter.
McClellan is scheduled to play at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the first round of the regional tournament at Highland High School. EStem will be a No. 3 seed and play at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
GIRLS
ESTEM 61, LITTLE ROCK McCLELLAN 24
Makayia Miller scored 18 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, handed out 5 assists and made 4 steals as the Lady Mets (19-10, 12-4) finished the regular season with a rout of the Lady Lions.
EStem used a 30-8 third quarter to break away from a 25-15 game at the half. Jaylen Mallard added 16 points and Alexandria Johnson tossed in 14 points for eStem.
Brittney Patterson led McClellan with 10 points and nine rebounds.
