As a family-owned business, treating families with dignity and expert care after the loss of a loved one is fundamental to the team at Boyd Funeral Home.

“Family is everything to us,” said Patricia Baldwin, owner. “We strive to make every family feel special by showing how much we care.”

Baldwin’s parents, Virgil and Margaret Boyd, started the business in 1972. Virgil began assisting with funeral setup when he was only 17. After earning his funeral director’s license in 1957, he managed a funeral home in Lonoke for more than a decade before purchasing his own establishment. In 1991, Baldwin joined the family business as office manager.

“I want to carry on what my parents started,” she said.

The staff includes three full-time funeral directors, each with more than 15 years of experience, and two part-time funeral directors, each with more than 20 years of experience. Baldwin said the employees strive to honor families’ wishes.

The funeral home offers full-service funerals, graveside services, cremation services and memorial services, as well as caskets, outer burial containers, cremation urns and grave monuments. Because the business is family-owned, the staff has the flexibility to set lower prices on products, as well as lower service charges, Baldwin said.

She added that she considers it an honor to meet with families and offer comfort after the loss of a loved one.

“We show respect and care for each family as if they were our own,” she said. “Our motto is, ‘we care.’”
