Slogan contest begins for Sevier County

-

Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas and the Sevier County Economic Development Tourism Committee have started a campaign asking Sevier County residents to come up with a new slogan for the county.

“We need a vision for our future that includes a brand, or slogan, in order to market our region to potential tourists,” said Economic Development Director Lisa Taylor.

Contestants must be current residents of Sevier County and at least 13 years of age. One entry per resident is allowed.

“The committee believes this is a great opportunity for families to dream and be competitive. Each family member should complete an entry. They also [should] encourage teachers, human resources departments, group leaders and presidents of clubs throughout the county” to participate in the competition, Taylor said.

She said contestants should keep the following in mind: keep it short and simple; focus on what makes Sevier County different and appealing to tourists; make it timeless; make sure it stands alone, without additional explanation; consider a specific target audience; and get input from family and friends.

Contestants can go to www.cccua.edu/sevier to submit their entries. The deadline is 11:59 p.m. on March 14. Entries may be in English or Spanish, she said.

The contest winner will receive a $500 prize.
