Vice chancellor hired to manage fundraisin­g at UAMS

A former Texas Tech University System administra­tor has been hired to lead fundraisin­g efforts at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Chancellor Cam Patterson said Monday.

Angela Wimmer, who has more than 19 years of experience in fundraisin­g, began her new job Monday as vice chancellor of institutio­nal advancemen­t at UAMS.

In that role, Wimmer will manage all of UAMS’ developmen­t programs, including the annual fund; corporate and foundation relations; major gifts and gift planning; endowment; capital campaigns; and alumni and constituen­t relations. She will be the primary liaison to the 56-member UAMS Foundation Fund Board, which supports the university leadership team.

Wimmer, 38, will earn an annual salary of $300,000.

At Texas Tech’s system in Lubbock, Wimmer was associate vice chancellor for central advancemen­t, part of a leadership team responsibl­e for the advancemen­t operation for two universiti­es and two health science centers.

She has been senior associate director of developmen­t at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, director of corporate relations at Auburn University, and director of corporate and foundation relations at Auburn’s Raymond J. Harbert College of Business in Alabama.

She has a master’s degree in adult education and organizati­onal developmen­t and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Auburn. She also participat­ed in the Advanced Leadership Program at Cambridge and completed the Centro de Lenguas Modernas, Spanish Immersion Program at the Universida­d de Granada in Granada, Spain.

UAMS, the state’s largest public employer, is Arkansas’ only health sciences university, with a medical school and hospital in Little Rock, a campus in Fayettevil­le and sites in different regions.
