‘Triple’ Concerto
Kiril Laskarov, violin; David Gerstein, cello; and Tatiana Roitman Mann, piano, will solo in Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Triple” Concerto in C major, op.56, with members of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and conductor Philip Mann, 7 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church, 5700 Cantrell Road, Little Rock. Herbalists huddle
Herb enthusiasts are gathering, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the Ozark Folk Center State Park, 1032 Park Ave., Mountain View, for the annual Medicinal Herb Workshop. Herbal merchants will show their wares. Instructors include Susan Belsinger, Bo Brown, Sasha Daucus, Dora Gonzalez and Tina Marie Wilcox. Sponsor is the Committee of 100 for the Ozark Folk Center. Weekend Theater
The Weekend Theater, West Seventh and Chester streets, Little Rock, will hold auditions for actors 18 and older for Between Riverside and Crazy by Stephen Adly Guirgus, 10 a.m. June 1 and 6 p.m. June 2. Director Michael Scott will cast via cold readings from the script. Rehearsals start June 15; production dates are July 26-Aug. 11. NEA grants
The Arkansas Arts Council has received $649,900 from the National Endowment for the Arts, in the endowment’s Partnerships (State & Regional) category. It’s one of four grants announced May 14 totaling $844,900 going to Arkansas organizations for fiscal 2019. Arts Council Director Patrick Ralston says the grant is in line with the amount the Arts Council receives every year from the NEA; the money goes toward funding arts in education (“such as artist-in-residency programs, curriculum development and after-school programs”); covers some Arts Council operational costs and two staff positions; and programs, including the annual Arkansas Poetry Out Loud poetry recitation competition.
Two grants are going to the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville: a $30,000 “Art Works — Folk & Traditional Arts” grant to support a folk and traditional arts program at the University of Arkansas Libraries, and a $150,000 grant in the “Research Labs — Research” category, to support a National Endowment for the Arts Research Lab on the arts, health and social/ emotional well-being.
The Walton Arts Center Council Inc. in Fayetteville will receive a $15,000 “Art Works — Presenting & Multidisciplinary Works” grant to support the arts center’s Mosaix Festival.

The River Market’s 15th-season Wednesday-night, free outdoor film series returns to the First Security Amphitheater, 400 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock, kicking off at sundown (approximately 8:30 p.m.) June 5 with Thor: Ragnarok (rated PG-13).
