■ David Oxenrider, 29, accused of placing a homemade bomb in a parking lot behind a hotel in Myerstown, Pa., told state troopers that he did it to warn them about the aliens who told him in 2014 that they would destroy the planet with a nuclear laser beam if humans didn’t “start being good people,” authoritie­s said.

■ Bernard Sigh, 67, of Milton, Mass., the ex-brotherin-law of former Democratic Massachuse­tts Gov. Deval Patrick, apologized in court, saying he was “selfish and thoughtles­s,” before he was sentenced to up to eight years in prison for raping his estranged wife in 2017.

■ Nick Deffley, sustainabi­lity director for Savannah, Ga., said after the city announced that it has leased two electric vehicles to begin reducing its carbon footprint that as many as 300 vehicles in the city’s fleet could be replaced with all-electric or hybrid vehicles in coming years.

■ Buddy Keith Myers, 24, of Gibbs, Texas, who had been scheduled to get out of a Louisiana prison early for good behavior, pleaded guilty to threatenin­g President Donald Trump in letters sent from the facility and was sentenced to 37 months in federal prison.

■ Jose Colon, an 82nd Airborne Division spokesman at Fort Bragg, N.C., said 18 paratroope­rs who were among about 3,000 rehearsing for a change-of-command ceremony in high humidity and 95-degree temperatur­es had to be treated for heat-related injuries at the base hospital.

■ Ashley Crawford, who has worked on more than 100 cases since last fall as a public defender in New Orleans, was pulled from a courtroom while investigat­ors look into whether she has been practicing law without a license.

■ Jordan Doswell, 34, of Toronto, who works as “special constable” performing security duties and is accused of breaking into a home and raping a woman in Huntington, W.Va., has been arrested in Atlanta.

■ Colin Freeman, a sheriff’s deputy and K-9 handler in Hancock County, Miss., said his dog, Loco, was stabbed while chasing a suspect through some woods and required at least 100 stitches but is expected to make a full recovery.

■ Kathy Kehoe, 73, admitted it was dangerous but said she was thinking about kids and others when she used a shovel to kill a 4- to 5-foot-long cobra that she saw slithering on her patio at an apartment complex in Fairless Hills, Pa.
