Hearing Aid Ads

Q.

I am being bombarded by hearing aid advertisements! How do I know where to go to get help with my hearing?

A.

We highly encourage you to do your research to find the right clinic for you. Getting fit with hearing aids is a process in which you’ll have several office visits with your provider and a lifelong relationship after your purchase. Here are a series of excellent questions to consider:

What is your providers educational background? Make sure you are being fit and seen by a Doctor of Audiology. A Doctorate in Audiology requires at least 8 years of education; including 4 years of specialized education in audiology. What is your trial period policy? Hearing aids are an investment for your health. You want to make sure that you chose the right type of hearing aids based on your hearing loss and your lifestyle. Everyone is unique, what works for one person may not work for you. You need to try the hearing aids in your specific environments to make sure they are the right fit for you. At Sound Advice Hearing Doctors we offer a “30 day Risk Free, No Restocking Fees & Absolutely No Pressure Evaluation Period”

What are your prices? Make sure that your provider is upfront about the pricing. Don’t fall for advertisements that offer discounts off M.S.R.P., research studies, stimulus checks or bait and switch ads. These are meant to grab your attention; however, when you visit the clinic, they give you an elevated price. At Sound Advice Hearing Doctors, we are transparent with our pricing and any discounts we offer come off our Everyday Low Pricing. No gimmicks, just honesty.

How many different hearing aid manufacturers do you provide and what are they? There are SIX major manufacturers that are available on the market today. Watch out for private label hearing aids that can only be programmed by that one particular company or provider. Look for one of these six manufacturers (in no particular order): Signia, Starkey, Phonak, Resound, Widex & Oticon. Investing in your hearing is a major decision to improving your quality of life and one that shouldn’t be taken lightly.

We personally invite you to come into one of our clinics to see one of us for a no-cost, comprehensive hearing evaluation.
