Biography: Farrah Fawcett Forever

A&E special celebrates life of actress

- — Rosemary Boggs

A&E is offering two specials this month focusing on icons that are now gone. First is Biography: Farrah Fawcett Forever, which premieres at 8 p.m. Tuesday. The show is meant to celebrate the life of the actress, 10 years after her death on June 25, 2009.

Fawcett, whose influence on pop culture was underestimated, was born in Texas. She moved to Los Angeles and found success as a model and in a series of TV roles. Her career exploded when she landed a starring role in Charlie’s Angels, and when she released her infamous bathing suit poster.

After shunning the sex-symbol success, Fawcett pursued roles against type in films such as The Burning Bed and Extremities, and she became a sculptor. She lived life on her own terms, documenting her battle with cancer in a public way.

The show features interviews with friends, family photographs and intimate footage of her cancer battle.

Biography: JFK Jr. — The Final Year premieres at 8 p.m. July 16. The two-hour documentary, airing on the anniversary of his death, examines his final year of life. It is inspired by Steven M. Gillon’s forthcoming book, America’s Reluctant Prince: The Life of John F. Kennedy Jr.

Events of that year include the fatal illness of his closest friend and cousin, Anthony Radziwill, his struggling marriage and the problems with his magazine, George. Behindthe-scene moments include his speech at the 1988 Democratic convention, exclusive stories and photos from his wedding, and his reflections on George.
