WRHS Foundation Golf Tournament raises $150K
BATESVILLE— The White River Health System Foundation recently raised $150,000 during its 25th annual Golf Classic. The proceeds will benefit cancer awareness, detection and prevention.
On June 15, 132 players competed at The Course at Eagle Mountain. Sponsors included 66 businesses and individuals who stepped up to support the event.
“We are pleased with the success of our 25th Golf Classic,” said Amanda Roberts, director of the White River Health System Foundation. “Many thanks to our sponsors, players and volunteers. It is through your contribution that we are able to provide much-needed support to patients with cancer.”
Additionally, approximately 60 WRHS employees and several friends of WRHS volunteered at the tournament.
“I want to thank all the volunteers for their help during the event,” said Gary Paxson, president and CEO of the White River Health System. “Their hard work and dedication are vital to the success of this event.”
In the past 25 years, the Golf Classic has raised over $3 million for vital programs and projects, such as nursing scholarships, community health programs, the WRMC Cancer Care Center, the Josephine Raye Rogers Center for Women and Imaging, the Ground Floor Renovation and Patient Tower Expansion project, emergency-department expansion and renovation, the WRMC Breast Care Center, Telehealth and, most recently, cancer awareness, detection and prevention.
Winners in the tournament are as follows: First flight — Brian Krug, Scott Wood, Shawn Drake and J.P. McShane: second flight — Arch Jones, Danny Bell, Dr. Dave Allen and Dr. David Bell; and third flight — Verona Bebow, Gary Bebow, Dianne Lamberth and Grier Bennett.
Prizes were also given to Ed Pinckard for the Golf Ball Drop; to Bart Simmons for the Men’s Long Drive; to Lorie Pinckard for the Women’s Long Drive; to Robin Brock for the Straightest Drive; and to Landon Downing for the Putting Contest.
Closest to the Pin winners were David Bell, No. 3; Ed Pinckard, No. 6; and Jason Martin, No. 15.
