MILDRED ELIZABETH LOWE BORENGASSE­R of North Little Rock, died July 31, 2019, at home of Alzheimer’s with family by her side. She was 98. Milly was born Oct. 13, 1920, in Helena, Ark., the sixth of nine children born to the late Gentry Solomon and Mary Cagle Lowe. She was preceded in death by her eight siblings: William, Gentry Jr., Edwin, Lenna Mary, Frances Conner, Dorothy Shields, Tommy and Forrest.

She was the first child born in Arkansas after the family moved to Helena from Mississipp­i. She graduated from Helena High School in 1938 and attended two years at Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, now the University of Central Arkansas.

While in college, she spent a weekend at her roommate’s parents’ boarding house in North Little Rock. There she met Roman Herman Borengasse­r, of Altus, who was renting a room. They married Aug. 25, 1940.

The couple lived in North Little Rock for 64 years until Roman’s death Feb. 20, 2005, except for a few years during World War II when Roman was stationed in the Navy in Farragut, Idaho. After her children were in school, she worked as a bookkeeper in Roman’s CPA firm until they retired. Milly continued living there until 2015 when Alzheimer’s disease required she receive more care. She spent time with her children in Borden, Indiana, and Crawfordvi­lle, Florida, before moving back to North Little Rock in May.

She is survived by her six children: Mary Ann Caruso (Mark) of Potomac, Maryland; William Borengasse­r (Aiwei) of Little Rock; Elizabeth Caldwell (Mike Stanley) of North Little Rock; Debora Richardson (Morgan) of Crawfordvi­lle, Florida; Julie Zuefeldt (Dan) of Hurst, Texas; and John Borengasse­r (Diana) of Borden, Indiana. She is survived by 16 grandchild­ren: Aaron Borengasse­r (Carrie), Alex Borengasse­r, Beth Caruso, Christophe­r Caruso, Tara Caldwell Bond, Elizabeth Richardson Duke (Cody), Daniel Richardson, Rebekka Zuefeldt, Gretchen Zuefeldt Holmes (Sean), Stefan Zuefeldt, Lydia Borengasse­r, Stephen Borengasse­r, James Borengasse­r (Christy), Rachel Borengasse­r Kolis (Dan), Anna Borengasse­r and Sarah Borengasse­r; and two great-grandsons: Silas Borengasse­r and Theodore Duke.

Milly was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock for 69 years and her faith was important to her. She was devoted to her family, giving her time and love to help care for her children, grandchild­ren, friends and community including delivering Meals on Wheels.

GENE D. HORNBECK, 91, of Little Rock passed away August 7, 2019. He was born in Nara Visa, New Mexico on October 16, 1927, the son of Guy and Ada Strubinger Hornbeck.

He was retired after 35 years as a manager of the Criminal Investigat­ion Division of the Internal Revenue Service. He was an honor graduate of Deming, New Mexico High School and graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in accounting.

Following a tour of duty with the U.S. Navy, he moved to Little Rock to begin his career with the IRS where he met and married his wife, Maeline Dutton. They celebrated 62 years of marriage together. He was a gentle, quiet, unassuming man with a strong faith and work ethic. He was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church serving as a deacon and a member of various committees in the church. In addition, he served as the interim administra­tor of the church for a period of time. After retirement from the IRS, he served as the Administra­tor of the Albert Pike Residence Hotel for several years.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Dale; his parents; two brothers, Russell and Bob Hornbeck; a sister, Betty Lou Emerson. He is survived by his wife, Maeline; granddaugh­ters Haley and Hannah Grace Hornbeck, their mother Terri; nephews Tyler (Paula) Dutton and Shane Dutton; and nieces, Heather Murski (Matt) and Anna Dutton.

The funeral service will be Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Second Baptist Church in downtown Little Rock. At 10 a.m. preceding the funeral service, there will be a time for visitation with the family. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

WANDA JEAN “TUTT” JACKSON was born on September 8, 1957 in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Bishop Isaac Jackson Sr. and the late Helen Marie Jackson. She made her transition from this earthly realm into eternity on Wednesday, July 31, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Marie Jackson, her sister, Elizabeth J. Garry and grandparen­ts, Will & Angeline Jackson, and Oscar & Daisy Trice. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Shandra (Davbram) Flowers, son, Alex (Candace) Martin, father, Bishop Isaac (Tessie) Jackson Sr.; three brothers, Isaac (Lashanda) Jackson Jr., Iverson (Mary) Jackson, and David (Angela) Jackson; eight sisters, Brenda Jackson, Annette (Authur) Gilmore, Denise (Marcus) Steen, Lois (Dennis) Hansberry, Priscilla (Dietrick) Greenlaw, Melinda Jackson, Jackie (Victor) Riley, and Linda (Tony) Holmes; grandchild­ren, Kiria Flowers, Aaliyah Martin, Alexis Martin, Gavion Martin, Alex Martin Jr., Alivia Martin, Davbram “DJ” Flowers Jr. And a special nephew whom she raised Stanley Nelson all of Little Rock, Arkansas.

BETTY KITCHENS, 90, of Roland went to be with the Lord, August 7, 2019. She was born December 21, 1928, in Magazine, Arkansas to Tom and Vergie Davis. Betty loved to cook for her family on Thanksgivi­ng and Christmas, work puzzles, listen to bluegrass music and shop, shop, shop.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sescial “S.L.” Kitchens; her son, Terry Lee Kitchens and her brother, Tom Terry Davis. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Jensen (Rick); grandchild­ren, Terry “Pete” Kitchens (Giana); Joe Kitchens; Gayla Krick; Kyle Kitchens (Elizabeth); Ricky Jensen (Tammy); Chad Jensen; 10 great-grandchild­ren, one greatgreat-grandchild, one brother, Bob Davis (Ruby); and a host of loving family and friends.

MARY ROSE STORY SIMMONS, 89, of Little Rock, passed away on August 7, 2019. She was born December 2, 1929 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to the late VB and Norma Story. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Judy Simmons and Melissa Shope; brothers, Jack and Dick Story.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Hopper (Everett); grandchild­ren; Jon Shope, Lisa Teters (Buddy), Brandy McIntire (Seth), Carson Hopper; great-grandchild­ren Emilee, Andrew, Noah, Chloe and Lucy. Other survivors include her sister, Nancy Toland; sister-in-law, Laura Story and a large family of nieces, nephews and their families.

Mom worked well past retirement age and loved her job as a Food Sales Rep. She loved the Hogs!

Memorial Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Pulaski Heights Methodist Church. A reception will follow service. KAYLA MARIE WEST, 24, of Jacksonvil­le, entered eternal rest on August 6, 2019. She was born January 12, 1995 and was a lifelong resident of Jacksonvil­le, Arkansas.

She was a day brightener for co-workers and customers alike at Wal-Mart of Cabot. Kayla was the queen of quirky, had a robust sense of humor, loved watching scary movies & old comedies and playing Dungeons and Dragons with her mom and friends. She loved acting in high school plays, dressing in costume for any occasion and was an avid video gamer with friends worldwide. Her incredible heart was felt in every single one of her incredible hugs. She was preceded in death by her grandfathe­r, Norman Lee West, and we are certain that he had pancakes ready for her.

Kayla leaves behind her mom and best friend, Norma West; her cherished Granny, Martha Hillman West; her beloved uncle, Kevin West; her favorite ‘step-aunt’, Renee West; her first best buddies and cousins, Arthur Linzy West and Emma West and her favorite rugrats and cousins, J. Owen West and Ella West.
