KYUNG RYUN BATES, 88, of Jacksonvil­le passed from this life on August 10, 2019. She was born July 5, 1931 in Japan. Kyung was a homemaker who loved her family and friends. RAY COBLE of North Little Rock, 83, passed away August 16, 2019. He was born May 8, 1936 to Harry and Eva Coble of Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was an auto body and paint man early in his career and went on to work at Allstate insurance as a claim adjustor for 30 years.

Ray spent his retirement years playing golf. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Raymond Coble. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruby Wood Coble. Daughters, Cathy Turpin (Larry) of Bryant and Shari McGehee (Shawn) of Conway, grandchild­ren, Eric Turpin of Little Rock, Nicole Turpin of Benton, Kasey Brown of Sherwood, Paige Vick (Josh) of Jonesboro, Mindy Goshien (Clayton) of Northlake, Texas, Austin Brown of Los Angeles, Calif., Sydney Martinez (Matt) of Northlake, Texas, great-grandchild­ren Taylor Brown, Henley Kraft, Charli Goshien, and Isabella Martinez. Siblings Harry Coble of Florida and Donald Coble (Shirley) of Mountain Home. Also, a long list of, nieces and nephews of Jonesboro, Ark.

Ray and Ruby formed long lasting relationsh­ips through coaching softball at Vestal and Burns Park while staying involved in school and community activities. They considered everyone as family, often traveling to tournament­s and activities for their children and grandchild­ren.

LEOLA ALENE EASTHAM, 90, of North Little Rock passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2019. She was born in Phoenix, Arizona on February 25, 1929 to the late William Noel Guinn and Mayme Etta Sanders.

Leola was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Art Eastham. Survivors include her son Ron Eastham (Patricia) and daughter Melba Springer (Ed); six grandchild­ren, 10 great-grandchild­ren, and three great-great-grandchild­ren.

She was a member of Friendly Chapel First Church of the Nazarene. She taught kindergart­en Sunday School for years at the First Nazarene in North Little Rock and helped pass out Bibles for the Gideons. Leola loved to garden, cook and take care of her grandchild­ren. She also was a help to elderly ladies who needed assistance in her community.

JOE HOLLAND, age, 91, of Little Rock passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the V.A. Hospital in Little Rock. A long time resident of the city, he became well known during the 1970’s and 80’s for being the drummer to his band, The Joe Holland Good Times Dixieland Jazz Band. They played regularly at Cajun’s Wharf and the Afterthoug­ht. His band also played for the sendoff to Washington D.C. of newly elected President Bill Clinton in 1992. Joe was featured in the August 21, 2018 Style section of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette.

He was born November 2, 1927 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Marie and Ben Holland. Joe did a stint in the U.S. Army followed by four years at Centenary College in Monroe, Louisiana where he met and married Nancy Horn of Little Rock. They had one daughter, Cathy Holland Wyatt and later divorced. Joe is survived by his daughter and four grandchild­ren, Lindsay Mae Wyatt, Dr. R. Allen Wyatt Jr., Jonathan Wyatt and his twin brother, Joshua Wyatt.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church, 7525 W. Markham Street, Little Rock, Arkansas with Joshua Johnson officiatin­g. Interment will follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock with full military honors. Funeral services are under the direction of Cremation Services of Arkansas.
