SIDNEY GEORGE WURTZ,

72, of Little Rock went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2020, after a valiant fight with cancer.

He was born in Pocahontas, Ark., on February 22, 1947, to the late C.J. and Esther (Thielemier) Wurtz.

Sid celebrated 51 years of marriage with his wife, Rita, to whom he was devoted. They delighted in spending time together, traveling, fishing, gardening and being grandparen­ts to Paul and Jane Wurtz. He always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Sid’s consistent sense of humor was part of who he was and brought joy to many people’s lives.

Sid was very active in the alcohol recovery community. Through Alcoholics Anonymous he was a servant to many in their road to recovery. He was an active, longtime member of Cathedral of St. Andrew Catholic Church. Sid had a long career in the insurance claims business.

Sidney is survived by his wife, Rita Lucille Wurtz; two children, Craig (April) Wurtz and Ashley Wurtz; future son-in-law, Patrick Buchanan; two grandchild­ren, Paul and Jane, all of Little Rock; brother, Ron (Judy) Wurtz of Pocahontas; two sisters, Camille (Joe) Myers of Memphis and Juanita (Joe) Cofer of Chattanoog­a; and many nieces and nephews.

The Rosary for Sidney will take place at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, Thursday, February 6, 2020, at 6 p.m. followed by the visitation from 6:30-8:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. February 7, 2020, at the Cathedral of St. Andrew Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cathedral of St. Andrew Catholic Church of Little Rock.
