Forum set for judge hopefuls

-

A judicial forum will be held at the W.H. Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock today to hear from judicial candidates who will be appearing on the March 3 ballot in Pulaski and Perry counties.

Candidates who face opposition — including two people running for a state Supreme Court seat — will speak.

At 3 p.m., candidates for the Arkansas Supreme Court and countywide judgeships will be the subject of the forum, as follows:

■ Arkansas Supreme Court, Associate Justice, Position 4: Barbara Womack Webb and Morgan “Chip” Welch.

■ Circuit Judge, District 6, Division 9: LaTonya Laird Austin and Andy Gill.

■ Arkansas District Court, District 31, Little Rock 2: Peggy Egan and Vic Fleming. Then, at 4 p.m., forums will be divided into two smaller ones: candidates running for subdistrict 6.1 courts, and candidates running for subdistrict 6.2 courts.

■ Circuit Judge, District 6, Division 8, Subdistrict 6.1: Tjuana Byrd and Suzanne Lumpkin.

■ Circuit Judge, District 6, Division 10, Subdistrict 6.1: Shanice Johnson, Lott Rolfe and Jonathan Q. Warren.

■ Circuit Judge, District 6, Division 2, Subdistrict 6.2: Hugh Finkelstein, Scott Richardson and Casey Tucker.

■ Circuit Judge, District 6, Division 14, Subdistrict 6.2: Andrew “Andy” Ballard, Tom Barron and Shawn Johnson.

■ Circuit Judge, District 6, Division 15, Subdistrict 6.2: Amy Dunn Johnson, Gary Rogers and Jay Shue.

The event will be held in Room 114, the Friday Courtroom, at the UALR law school, 1201 McMath Ave. in Little Rock. The school is just east of MacArthur Park.

A voter’s guide website — VIPVoter.org — will launch before the Sunday forum.
