BENTON — Roy Ray Rose

-

was born May 5, 1928, to Nettie Esma Durning Rose and John Thomas Rose in Roseville, Arkansas. He passed away in Benton, Arkansas, Thursday, February 13, 2020, at the age of 91 years.

Roy and his wife, Maxine Brown Rose, were married for 55 years before Maxine’s death in December 2012. Roy dearly loved his wife, Maxine, or “Max” as he called her, and his family. He has greatly missed Max these last seven years since her passing. He had a deep love and commitment to his family. He always ended phone calls and visits with saying, “we love you dearly” even after Maxine’s passing. He always used the word “we”.

He was a man of his word and had great honesty and integrity with a strong work ethic which he passed along to his children.

Roy was very patriotic and proudly served his country in the Army. He was assigned to the missile battalion and served stateside in the early 1950s.

He worked in the grocery business, but his career was in the United States Postal Service where he retired as Postmaster in early 1989.

He was a member of Geyer Springs Church of Christ. One of his favorite pastimes in his later years was listening to his King James Version Bible CD’s on a daily basis. He loved a good Western movie – or “shoot’em up” as he called them. And he loved to talk … and talk over a good cup of coffee.

Survivors include his daughter Pamela Wilson and her husband, Mark; son Michael Rose and his wife, Nicole; granddaughters Jennifer Wilson Clowers and her husband, Gary, Madison Rose and Anna Claire Rose and grandson Landon Rose.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30 in Little Rock, Arkansas, with graveside to follow at Forest Hills Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
