PATRICIA DEATON PERRY,

78, of Sherwood, Arkansas, passed away on February 23, 2020. She was born in Hope, Arkansas, to J.W. and Pearl-Deaton. Patricia attended Little Rock Central High School from 1956-1958 and graduated in 1959 from Thomas J. Raney High School. In 1963, she graduated from the University of Arkansas College of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. In 1968, she graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia with a master’s degree in Nursing. Patricia taught nursing at the University of Central Arkansas, University of Arkansas College of Nursing, Allied Health and the Baptist Health Schools of Nursing. She practiced nursing for 35 years and she was a wonderful caregiver! Patricia was a member of the First United Methodist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas. She was a polio survivor and a cancer survivor. She was a member of the Arkansas League of Polio Survivors, Post-Polio Health Internatio­nal and the American Cancer Society. She was a loving mother and grandmothe­r. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father J.W. Deaton; mother Pearl Deaton Gill; sister Shirley Layton; nephew Mark Layton, and stepfather Purifoy Gill. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Paul Scott Perry and his wife Dana of Clinton, Arkansas; grandson Patrick Perry; sister Nancy Graddy; brotherin-law Bill Layton; nephew Brad Graddy; niece Tara Simmons (Tommy); great nephew Spencer Simmons; great niece Morgan Simmons, and many extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 6701 JFK Boulevard, North Little Rock, Arkansas by the Rev. Annie Lankford, JD. Interment to follow at Snell Cemetery in Emmett, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
