-

Megan Raney, real estate advertising sales representative for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, died Tuesday, March 3, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Medical Center in Little Rock. She was 60.

Raney was born May 1, 1959, in Little Rock. Those who knew her remember her fondness for cats and her dedicated volunteer work at CARE for Animals in Little Rock and Heifer International, headquartered in Little Rock.

During her 15 years at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Raney made an undeniable impact on her clients and colleagues.

Ashley Frazier, advertising director, remembered Raney as a hardworking employee who was passionate about her work and encouraged those around her to meet high standards.

“Losing Megan was very unexpected, and it’s inspired us to not take daily blessings for granted,” Frazier said. “The office has realized the importance of appreciating each other while we still have one another.”

Marilyn McKimmey of McKimmey Associates Realtors, who worked with Raney throughout her tenure at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, said Raney went above and beyond when it came to caring for her clients.

“To me, she was just a wonderful person, and it went beyond her service. She cared about her customers. I considered her a true friend,” McKimmey said. “She was family to us.”

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 9, at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, 4823 Woodlawn Drive in Little Rock.
