WYNNE — Mr. Jerry David Dallas,

better known to his family by his favorite title, Papa, resident of Wynne, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at his home at the age of 77. Jerry was born in Wynne on Monday, February 22, 1943, the son of Mr. Dee Dallas Jr. and Mrs. Gertrude (Elam) Dallas.

Mr. Dallas was a 1961 graduate of Wynne High School, and on December 14, 1968, he and Mona (Faulkner) Dallas were united in marriage. In 1964, Jerry opened the Dallas Gulf Station in Wynne, and operated the business until 1972 when he began his career in law enforcemen­t. In 1981, Mr. Dallas started Dallas Real Estate, and in recent years worked with Marcum Real Estate. Jerry worked in real estate and constructi­on up to the day of his passing.

Mr. Dallas was active in the community as a member of the Cross County Chamber of Commerce and the Wynne 100 Club. Jerry loved to care for others, and gladly volunteere­d much of his time wherever he saw a need. In his youth, Jerry was an extraordin­ary baseball player, and enjoyed playing the sport into his fifties with his children. He was an avid fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, Arkansas State Red Wolves, St. Louis Cardinals, and Wynne Yellow Jackets. Jerry was a longtime member of the Wynne Church of Christ where he participat­ed in the Benevolenc­e Ministry and Prayer Ministry, and volunteere­d anywhere he was needed. Jerry’s most cherished activity was spending time with his grandchild­ren, as they were the lights of his life.

Mr. Dallas was preceded in death by his parents, Dee and Gertrude Dallas; and a brother, Earnest Dallas Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mona Dallas of the home; two sons, Kelly Dallas and wife, LeAnn, of Wynne; and David Dallas and wife, Myra, of Fayettevil­le; a daughter, Deanna Dallas of Conway; a brother, Donald Dallas; three grandchild­ren, Logan Dallas of New York, New York; Anna Claire Dallas of Wynne; and Carson Dallas of Wynne; a lifelong friend, Roger Mashburn; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at the Wynne Church of Christ with Mr. Fred Strasser officiatin­g. Committal services will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Crosslawn Cemetery in Wynne. No visitation is planned.

Those honored to serve as pallbearer­s are Jerry Brewster, Charles Dallas, Stewart Kennon, Sammy Lee, Roger Mashburn, and Mike Taylor. Honorary pallbearer­s are Sonny Ball, Ron Brown, Earnest Dallas, Jr., Vernon Pribble, Gary Sparks, and Bill Warren.
