#ExploreLR turns residents to tourists

Officials are encouraging residents to explore the city with a new social media challenge that kicked off last week.

Participants have until Feb. 28, 2021, to photograph themselves or their families participating in each of 52 selected activities around the city and upload each post to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag “#ExploreLR.”

Those who complete 10, 20, 30 or all of the items will receive tiered prizes, which the city has not yet announced.

The checklist covers a variety of arts, cultural, historical and sports-related activities, including attending a high school sporting event, riding the Rock Region Metro streetcar and visiting the Central High National Historic Site Visitors Center.

The checklist is designed to encourage people to visit parts of the city where they wouldn’t normally go, such as cultural features or participating in recreational activities at libraries and community centers.

The full rules of the contest can be found by going to littlerock.gov, navigating to the “City Hall” tab at the top of the page and clicking on “Mayor’s Office.” A link to the “#ExploreLR Challenge” will be to the left of the page.
