ALEXANDER — Larry Dale Potter,

69, of Alexander, born on November 23, 1950 in Paris, Ark., on Thanksgivi­ng Day, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 2, 2020 from complicati­ons from cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Florita Potter; brother Richard Potter; sister Karen Lackey; and one nephew. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judy Potter; three children Stephanie Thompson, Jennifer Potter, and Jeffrey Potter (Allison); brother Randall Potter (Mary); four grandchild­ren Korey Thompson, Madalynn Thompson, Andelin Potter, and Oliver Potter; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was a graduate of Scranton High School’s Class of 1968. He spent four years in the USAF followed by service in the Arkansas National Guard. He spent his career as a mechanic, retiring from Arkansas Kenworth in 2017. He enjoyed racing his Dodge late model on dirt tracks in the midsouth area for 45 years, with favorite track being Riverside Speedway in West Memphis. Larry and Judy enjoyed spending their time together traveling and camping at various NASCAR races. He spent many weekends with his family on Lake DeGray camping, fishing, boating, and enjoying watersport­s.

Visitation will be held in the Chapel at the Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Ark., on Thursday, March 5 at 5-7 p.m. Funeral Services will also be held in the Chapel on Friday, March 6 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the local animal charity of your choice.
